Fandom Snowflake Day 8
1/8/19 07:04 amIn your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created.
Oooh, this one is always tough. All one fandom? All one pairing? Recent works vs favorite works?
I guess I'll rec things I'm proud of that I feel didn't really hit their target audience, for whatever reason.
The Grace Machine. Supernatural, Wincestiel, Explicit, 53,726 words. Summary: Sam closes the gates of Hell. Metatron kicks the angels out and closes the gates of Heaven.
When Sam's turned back from the pearly gates, he becomes something no one could have expected.
I like this story a lot. I worked really hard on it, spent a lot of time thinking through the worldbuilding (it's SPN canon, so we all know how many holes there are in that) and I just really, really like how it turned out. But for a number of reasons, it never hit its target audience, I think. I've always been sad that it lags behind my other Wincestiel stuff.
... and I can't actually find the other things I was thinking missed their audience, so here's some of the stuff I don't talk about much, or see in my kudos often anymore, I guess?
Secondhand Lions. Stargate: Atlantis, McShep, Mature, 7,652 words. Summary: John has the strangest way of showing up when Rodney least expects him.
Probably because it's not a super happy fic, in the end, this one gets skipped a lot. I like to think of it as bittersweet, but there's not a lot of love for non-straight up happily-ever-afters, particularly in SGA. I still love it a lot. (Be sure to read the warnings!)
The Games People Play. The Losers, Cougar/Jensen and Aisha/Clay/Roque, Teen, 4,013 words. Summary: A series of vignettes based on popular board game titles.
I dunno, I just really like this one. It's cute and the structure just turned out perfectly. It was one of those whizbang things that wrote itself in like, a couple hours, and I really enjoy it. *shrug*

Fandom Snowflake Day 3
1/3/19 11:45 pmIn your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
Oh, man, this is tough. I love so so so many things, and it's tough to actually pick a bit of canon that stands out above all the others.
But let me go with this: Death's entrance in season 5 of Supernatural. Honestly, I think this might be my #1 scene in the whole of the 14 year canon. It's just so awesome. The timing, the lighting, the music, the EVERYTHING. Not to mention the casting is perfection. I can't even describe it, so here, let me show you.
( Cut for (I hope) embedded video. )

Fandom Snowflake Day 2
1/3/19 01:14 amRec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.
Oh, this is both easy and hard. Choosing a theme is usually more difficult than choosing the fanworks. It's late and I'm tired, so I'm going to rec one for each pairing within my Supernatural OT3 (Wincestiel): Sastiel, Destiel, and Wincest.
Sastiel: atrophy (12622 words) by saintsurvivor
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply, Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Castiel/Sam Winchester
Additional Tags: Protective Castiel, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Developing Relationship, Developing Friendships, Families of Choice, Headaches & Migraines, Sam Winchester and Mental Health Issues, Implied/Referenced Suicide, Implied/Referenced Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism, Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms, POV Sam Winchester, Religious Imagery & Symbolism, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Psychic Abilities, Implied/Referenced Character Death, Implied/Referenced Self-Harm, Gen or Pre-Slash, Exhaustion, Dreams and Nightmares, Season/Series 05, Panic Attacks, Sam Has Panic Attacks
Summary: "You called," Castiel says simply, as if that's the only explanation needed.
OMG you guys, this story! Sam's pain is beautifully rendered. I like this especially because there's often the feeling in fandom that Sastiel is the cute and fluffy couple, so you don't see a lot of angst like this. It's good - it's really good.
Destiel: The Sighting (8318 words) by phantasme
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester
Summary: “Who are you?”
Wincest: Redshift (27087 words) by road_rhythm
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Relationships: Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester
Additional Tags: Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Season/Series 08, Trials, Gates of Hell, Sick Sam Winchester, Dissociation, Kink Meme, Forced Orgasm, Switching, Jealousy, Porn, Angsty Schmoop, Prompt Fic, Protective Dean Winchester, Bunker Sex
Summary: They're still reeling from Dean's stint in Purgatory, the Trials are tearing them apart, the world hangs in the balance (again)—and Dean wants to get a pool table and have a sex marathon. Of course he does.
The word for this fic is relentless. The boys are relentless, the plot is relentless, the boys' doubts are relentless. It's an amazing read, and a chunk of canon that was left out of the show and fits right into late season 8. It's like a cut bit of film; the story itself is a solid block of atmosphere, and it simply ends, it doesn't resolve, so take note: it might take you some time to reorient yourself after this. You don't want to read this in a hurry.
If you do have time, it is the most perfect Sam POV, and it doesn't forgive Dean his sins, either. Gorgeous. Perfect characterization, dialogue, and atmosphere. Beautiful.

Destiel: The Sighting (8318 words) by phantasme
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester
Summary: “Who are you?”
The decaying warehouse, the symbols painted in red on the walls. The man standing at the far end of the long room. The light bulbs above Castiel’s head shattered one by one as he drew towards the man; he vaguely felt sparks blooming like flowers in the air around him, and bullets brushing lightly through the skin of his vessel. The man drew his knife. It flashed coldly in the dying light.
“I’m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition,” Castiel said.
Dean. Dean Winchester. Dean speaking, and Castiel answering. The sound waves met in the air, superimposing in a steep arc. Dean’s eyes were locked on Castiel’s. He had been waiting for this moment for centuries. Eons.
Longer.
So one of the things that can be overlooked in fanfic is the language. This one is beautiful and rich, and the story weaves a terrific tapestry with canon. Lovely story.Wincest: Redshift (27087 words) by road_rhythm

2/11/18 11:39 amI find it really funny that while Supernatural keeps breaking my heart, week after week, the only respite the few moments it acknowledges Sam’s trauma, The Magicians is giving me life and creating complex relationships with no apologies and allowing room for growth and acknowledgement of everything happening between all of them.
Thanks, Sera Gamble. And I miss the hell out of you on Supernatural.

In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (Or a few!) Tell us what makes it work for you, and why it appeals to you so much. Talk about what you like to see in fanworks featuring that theme most. Feel free to include recs and examples!
My favorite trope is found family/team. But, because I tend to gravitate toward canons where that is a theme, it tends to be a theme in almost all the fanworks I like to consume (or at least a vast majority). So that said, I think my next favorite trope is fake dating/marriage. I could literally read hundreds of thousands of these. I probably have. Below are some of my very favorites.
Stargate: Atlantis
Ordinary Life by
astolat and
Speranza. McShep, 20,043 words, explicit.
THIS FIC, Y'ALL. This is one of my top 3 SGA fics of all time. Pieces of it come up all the time in my daily live. Port Salut cheese will always remind me of this. Seeing Raytheon anything will mean I say "I know who Raytheon are," in zoetrope's accent. Like, I just love everything about this fucking fic. And the podfic by
zoetrope
No Refunds or Exchanges by
astolat. McShep, 10,659 words, explicit.
Shit, I just realized I totally used this title for an SPN fic I wrote, heh. Whoops. Anyway, this is amaaaaaazing and I like it a lot because in it, Rodney is just a decent human being with principles and it's kinda nice. I mean, I like a lot of other things about it, but the Rodney with a moral compass is nice. Also you can tell how old it is by Rodney's full name on the marriage certificate, heh.
The Losers
This Side of Paradise by
thefourthvine. Jensen/Cougar, 17,031 words, explicit.
This is a Yuletide fic, and it's so fun. I think mostly because Jensen is so certain Cougar is straight.
Imaginary Boyfriend by me! Cougar/Jensen, 4,713 words, teen.
Stealth crossover with Criminal Minds, White Collar, Psych, and Leverage. Based on an ad I saw for Imaginary Boyfriends. This was such a blast to write.
Supernatural
Come on baby, let me know by
Lenore. Wincest, 6,572 words, explicit.
I'll just leave you with this summary: They don't just have to pretend to be gay. They have to be the gayest!
Fake It Til You Make It by me! (Yep, TWO self-recs!) Wincestiel, 33,467 words, explicit (but for violence and warnings - PLEASE NOTE THE WARNINGS - not sex).
This one started as a fun romp and turned into a "I want to fix everything about Sam and Dean ever." It was fun and then cathartic to write, so there's that. Plus there's a gay cruise.

Snowflake Challenge Day 9
1/10/18 11:36 amDay 9
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
I've done this a few times now, and I don't know that I could pick 3 fanworks out of the almost 400 I've made that "define me as a creator" so I'm just gonna throw a few things here that I'm proud of lately.
perhaps home is not a place but simply an irrevocable condition, 5610 words, explicit, Sam/Kevin hair washing turns into porn. This came almost completely in a single day, after not having written for months, and it was such a joy. Sam/Kevin is an unusual pairing for me, but one I like, and one I'm happy to write about, especially for
omens. I just really like it, okay?
We Three Kings, 127,578 words, explicit, Wincestiel. This was just such a trip. It's the first serial I'd written sort-of on purpose, and I really liked the way it kept me writing all year. I'm not a huge fan of WIPs, as I don't feel like they get the kind of editing I prefer, and this definitely suffers a little from that, but it's still a cohesive tale and I really, really like what I did with it, so yeah. I'm proud of this fucker.
Let the Bodies Hit the Floor, 1667 words, teen for violence, Jensen/Cougar. The prompt for this was "Jensen is the scary person in Jensen's life" and this is one of the stories I'm proudest of. I feel like I really did the team justice here, which doesn't always happen for me in the Losers fandom.

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.
Oh man, okay. I have so many things that I adore, it's tough to limit it to three, but time is not on my side. I have SO MUCH to do. Okay, let's pick one favorite per fandom.
1. Supernatural: So many many great fics, but I'm going to choose The Place of the Lion by
De_Nugis. Sam/Castiel. There is nothing I like more than their take on Castiel, except maybe how they portrays Sam. Honestly, read all their Sastiel stuff (and Sam/OMC stuff) - it is great. The earlier Wincest stuff is great too, though it clearly reflects an earlier time in the show.
2. Leverage: Parachute, my very favorite Leverage OT3 vid, by
thingswithwings. It has literally everything, and the vid has such a clear, wonderful narrative.
3. Stargate Atlantis: Day-Night Time Difference by
chkc. I love all of chkc's stuff, and I would highly recommend looking through their works.

Supernatural bitching
11/3/17 03:36 pmSorry, folks. I have nowhere to put this because the fandom is divided into Wincest shippers and Destiel shippers and I would just start a fucking wankfest on tumblr or Twitter, so it goes here, where as far as I know, no one on my dwircle gives a shit. I'll keep it off your reading pages, at least.
( Feels about the first 4 eps of season 13 )
I apologize in advance; Supernatural is one of those things I have a lot of feels about but don't have a good outlet for. I am friends with Wincest, Destiel, and multi-shippers on multiple platforms, but none of them seem to have similar thought processes to me and I don't want to get into it. I just want to get my feels out because fandom makes me crazy sometimes.

I'm having thoughts about serial fic.
2/24/17 11:52 pmSo, back in 2014, I posted about my experience with writing a 12-chapter serial fic, and concluded, basically, that it's not for me. I did it once, and I might try it again, I thought, purposefully – to use the lessons I learned the first time around.
( Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. )
But you know, I went back and read that post and the comments from the last time I talked about serials, and there was this in the comments from
nagasvoice: What I'm wondering: If you give a warning note for it, would it be okay with the community to fix larger problems? Is anybody going to hate it if you edit earlier chapters when you've run into snags that need changing?
And dude, THAT HAPPENED TO ME WITH WE THREE KINGS.
( So much blather under here (including spoilers for the story, FYI)! )
( And final thoughts about serials – which amounts to basically 'I have changed my mind, and only partially because SPN is a fandom of serials.' )
So what do y'all think? Still feel the same about serials? Have different thoughts? Don’t really care one way or another?
*chinhands* Come talk to me.

Dear WAGFAPE podficcer:
2/7/16 04:47 pmI had not believed such a thing as WAGFAPE existed in the world, and I am so glad I chanced upon it in my galavanting around the internets.
First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING SOMETHING FOR ME OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I AM SO EXCITE. I am sure I will love WHATEVER you make, and I have no opinions about things in or out of podfics (intros, music, sound effects, or straight up, nothing but words), so GO WILD. Do whatever your heart desires!
Second, I am super easy to please. For one, my number one favorite thing is your happiness. I want you to enjoy reading this story, and enjoy it enough that listening to it again and again while you edit is not (too much) of a chore. So I'd best prefer if you found a story you adored to record so that you get just as much enjoyment out of this as I do. I'd also love for you to read me one of your favorite stories - I feel like that really comes out in a reading, and it's one of my very favorite things in podfic.
Third, I love EVERYTHING. Seriously, just... I love all kinds of stories, all kinds of kinks, tropes, ratings, pairings (or not pairings)... I just love everything. I have a standard list of many many things I love, and another one that changes season to season, but the thing I'm looking for is a story that touches me in some way. Makes me laugh out loud. Makes you laugh out loud! (Some of my most favoritest stories to record were the ones were you can hear the laughter (or tears, gah, so many tears) lurking in my voice. I love those stories.) I'm not afraid of tears, so dark!fic is welcome, but I love laughter and love and cuddles too, if dark isn't your cuppa. I love to see loyalty and steadfastness, mistakes being made and then efforts to fix them (redemption fics are a huge fave), teaching of any sort (teaching in porn is a favorite), found family/team/brothers in arms, all those things are huge buttons of mine.
I like sexy fics, but if you are uncomfortable reading that, I'm happy to receive things that are lower on the ratings scale and/or gen. I prefer queer pairings, so for this fest, if you're going to do sexy times, I'd really rather see F/F (or multi-F/F/F), genderfluid characters, trans! or ace! characters, pretty much anything other than cis het. I love love LOVE platonic het relationships though (god, Olivia & Charlie (red or blue) FOREVER, or Red!Olivia & Red!Lincoln, or Dean & Charlie, I could eat them up with a spoon - as long as it stays completely platonic).
I'll put the few DO NOT WANTS up front here before I go into a bit of detail with my canons. There's only a few, and they are: character bashing, scat, mpreg. I am not super fond of A/B/O, though I must admit a female-centric A/B/O story where the political structure and history and just everything are dealt with does sound interesting. I'm okay with the rest of the normal biggies, though, so if you can do sad or scary or disturbing, I am happy to receive that!
Supernatural
This is a tough fandom for women and genderqueer characters, I will grant you. The women that are there are AMAZING, though, so let my name a few of my favorite characters and pairings. Charlie - ALLLLLLL THE CHARLIE, Dean & Charlie, Sam & Charlie, Dean & Sam & Charlie, Donna, Jody, Donna/Jody, WAYWARD DAUGHTERS, Claire, Claire & Castiel, Abbadon, Linda Tran, Jo, Jo & Ellen, Ellen/anyone, especially crossovers! (I've written Ellen/Aisha (The Losers), and I just stumbled across an Ellen/Buffy the Vampire Slayer. OOOOOOOOOH.) I've heard about Charlie/Jo and I love the concept but haven't read any - I'd be happy to get some of that!
I read a fic a while back that had genderfluid!Sam and I absolutely adored it (I think the pairing was Sam/Cas). I love Sam as genderfluid, or Cas as agender (which is canon, really, despite Castiel's current male (albeit lovely!) meatsuit), and I think there's a fair amount of fic about non-cis versions of Sam or Cas that would make for some lovely reading. I do any and all pairings in SPN, so no worries about stepping on toes there.
Leverage
PARKER. I love all the Parker. Here is, I grant you, one het couple I could take - Parker/Hardison. I love them together and would make an exception for fic about them. I love Eliot and Parker/Hardison/Eliot too, but unless Eliot is genderfluid or agender or something, I'm not really thinking that's for this particular challenge. I love casefic featuring Parker's skillset or introspective vignettes where she looks on her team with love, or pretty much anything about Parker, ever. I do like Sophie, too, but usually more as half of a F/F pairing - Sophie/Tara or Sophie/Maggie are both favorites of mine. I really prefer Parker with Hardison, so unless it's pre-series (or pre-Parker and Hardison getting together), I'd rather not have Sophie/Parker. Genderqueer Parker would be super-mega-awesome!
The Librarians
Cassandraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Seriously, every woman she's ever met (INCLUDING EVE, IN THE FAIRYTALE EPISODE) has fallen deeply in love with Cassandra, mostly at first sight. I love Cassandra, and every F/F pairing with her that exists. Cassandra/Lamia (particularly in that alternate universe) is a fave, as is Cassandra/every female minor character she's been on screen with. Gen fics about Cassandra and magic or becoming part of a team or her brain grape also welcome. I wouldn't turn down OT3 (Cassandra/Ezekiel/Jake) if one of the boys was genderqueer in some way, too. But focus on Cassandra would be preferred. That said, now that I've thought about genderqueer Ezekiel, I would totally go for a story about that, too, that would be brilliant.
Fringe
SO MANY AWESOME WOMEN. Olivia, Bolivia, Astrid (every Astrid, I love EVERY Astrid), Elizabeth (I love every iteration of her too), Nina (love every iteration of her too), Etta, and I'd be into genderqueer versions of Walter, Astrid, Lincoln, Olivia, or Broyles. Fringe is a fandom where I have read almost nothing, so I trust your judgement if this is the fandom of your heart! I'm not terribly into pairings, but I like the canon ones well enough, and mostly the aspect I like about all these folks is the team/family aspect.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
Oh, Phryne is wonderful, to be sure, but my heart is with Mac. I love Mac SO MUCH, and would love it if there were a story out there about the fling Mac and Phryne had pre-series. They just seem like they might have had a good time one night (or one week). I love Dot, too, and this fandom really hits my teaching kink pretty hard, so I'd be okay with just about anything as long as it features one or more of these delightful women (OR JANE! I LOVE JANE!). I'd love to see genderqueerness with regard to Mac, or even Jane, maybe, but I'm not particularly interested in any of the men in this fandom, even if they were genderqueer. I like Phryne/Jack and Dot/Hugh as pairings in canon, but I'd rather not have fic focused solely on that.
A few things
1/17/16 09:23 pm1. We are rewatching Fringe. Walter makes me laugh out loud SO MUCH. Also, I love the very slow and respectful way Peter and Olivia get together. Also also, Astrid is fucking GORGEOUS and so interesting. There's so much said about her in such little space on the show.
2. I am doing another serial Supernatural fic. I'm going to post on holidays. I've outlined the holidays I want to write for, and there are a couple of nice bunches of several in a row, coming up before Valentine's day that are important, but there's a 4 day gap between Ash Wednesday and Valentine's day, and the 3 days before that are in a row (Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday). Valentine's day is important, and then there is another one right away (President's day is February 15). I'm trying to outline what to do where and having a rough time. Anyone want to spitball with me in gdocs?
3. Our cats have the stinkiest butts known to man.
4. All the reports from Jaxcon are making me smile so big. And making me think about the RPF fic I don't write on very much.
5. I have to make most of a powerpoint training deck tomorrow. I'm nervous af about it. Good thoughts?
ETA: 6. Finally posted my 2015 fanwork roundup, if that's something you might be interested in.

Yeah, so I have 4 WIPs over 7 pages long, and I'm posting all of them, dammit. Also not tagging anyone - play along if you like. <3
( The Grace Machine, Wincestiel Big Bang to be posted in a couple of months. )
( Fake Marriage Wincestiel Fic I'm considering for SPN_J2_big_bang in July )
( The Road Less Traveled, sprawling Wincestiel AU fork thingee - TW for medical stuff, Sam is in the hospital with an injury )
( Jensen realizes he's bi and his friends and loved ones support him (non-ship RPF fic) )

Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 13
1/13/16 11:11 am
Day 13: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create.
SO EASY. I could do a zillion of these, but I will stick with 3, all Supernatural.

Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester
Additional Tags: Protective Sam Winchester, POV Female Character, Experimental Style, Season/Series 03, road - Freeform, Desert, everglades
Summary: Outsiders would tell you, sometimes tell her at toll booths or rest stops, that she is fat, and hairy, and old. Some people call her things for that. She has many names.
My notes: This is just... gorgeous. Seriously, the way the tale is wound all the way to the end, and then the penny drops that this really is Supernatural, and it's so heartwrenching, those few sentences about the Winchesters from this particular outside POV. Wow. Beautiful.
The Bright Waters Meet (1875 words) by The_Bookkeeper
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences

Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester
Characters: Sam Winchester, Dean Winchester, Castiel
Additional Tags: Hunter Retirement, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Enochian, Dirty Talk, First Kiss, Insecurity
Series: Part 1 of Enochian
Summary: Sam is okay with Dean and Cas' relationship. Really, he is. He just kind of wishes Cas would stop murmuring in Dean's ear like that.
My notes: Oh god, the Sam angst is going to make me diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie. The Enochian just really, really makes this. ETA: There is a sequel that is even MORE lovely and angsty and breaks my heart in two. GORGEOUS.
I got SO MUCH cool stuff, you guys, SO MUCH!!!
Everything from gluten-free recipes to lots of cute and fun graphics for season's greetings!
monanotlisa gave me hedgie wallpaper, omg I LOVE,
leesa_perrie made a gorgeous and perfect snowed in picspam, and
lightbird gave me a lovely Christmas tradition story and set of beautiful snowy pics.
As if that wasn't enough to make me smile to the ends of the earth, a few lovely people made fanworks for me, and they are all so good!
valarltd gave me a lovely 3-work Leverage OT3 rec set (the fic is amaaaaaazing Parker.
lilly_c made me Big Hero 6 icons. (;salfkjsa;dlfkjas;ldkfjs;ldfkj BAYMAX. BAYMAX AND HIRO. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I AM GRINNING SO BIG HERE!)
tarlanx made a gorgeous Cas & Dean wallpaper. (Ugh, Cassssssssssssssssss and Dean unconscious, just... ugh, so perfect.)
mific expanded upon her Leverage OT3 tentacle art to add a little spicier version. (Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh OT3 + tentacles OMG OMG OMG!!! *claws eyes out*)
omens arted me Jody and Donna having movie night. (;ssdkfljads;lkfjas;ldfkjas;dlkfjs;dlfkj fffffuck, Donna and Jody, I don't think you understand - Wayward Daughters is the only SPN shirt I will wear in public with ABSOLUTELY NO SHAME.)
curiouscorvid's fic Silver Balls is a hysterical outside POV on Destiel decorating the tree naked (off a flailosaurus prompt). SO. ADORABLE. So cute, so much awesome Sam in a Destiel fic. LOooooOOOoooooVE.
parcequelle made a Leverage/Buffy fusion, where Parker's the slayer, Sophie's the watcher, and Eliot and Hardison are the scoobies. The One Girl Job is both amazing in terms of how well the crossover works and also in how sweetly heartwrenching it is in such a short, seemingly silly premise.
I will NEVER not ask for Nightside stuff in
fandom_stocking because a couple year's back, I got the amazing Teddy Bear's Graveyard about Jessica Sorrow from
anonymous_sibyl, and this year, I got a ficlet about John/Suzie/Eddie from
katarik where they are SO PERFECTLY DRAWN. HOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS?! I have never received a fanwork in the Nightside fandom that hasn't been amazingly done. And some year, someone is going to make me Dead Boy art, and I will die.
senmut wrote me the most delightful Jenkins backstory ficlet in the Librarians fandom, and I absolutely looooooove that mostly it is not actually giving us any backstory. It's such delightful characterization, and THE LIBRARIANS!!!! :D :D :D :D
And last, but oooooohhhhhh so not least,
citrusjava made me THE MOST PERFECT Wincestiel/Project Runway fusion/crossover/thingee!!! I Know Who You Did Last Summer has Cas making SOCKS. SOCKS. I DON'T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND. *cries* And then Sam losing it and Cas and Dean going after him and just... no. THIS IS PERFECT. *clutches it to chest*
I am so so so so grateful for this fest every year, you guys. I just love making stuff for people (list under the cut, because this post isn't about that), and then I get all this amazing stuff in return, and just seeing the outpouring of fannish joy makes me tear up. Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Days 4-9
1/8/16 02:01 amDay 4: In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something.
I'm counting the two podfics and six fics I created for
fandom_stocking here. Reveals aren't until Friday evening, if you're feeling ambitions and want to gift a little something. :D
Day 5: Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback.
I've been leaving it all over, but here are two pieces that deserve more love, if anyone else is so inclined, both Supernatural: Return by
citrusjava, and For the Time Being by
De_Nugis
Day 6: In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it.
ante_up_losers 2016 Fanwork Exchange is up and running! Sign up now! :D :D :D
Day 7: In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I was going to try and do something for Supernatural, and there are a million things I love, but it'd be way to hard to try and do that (and too time consuming), so instead, I'm going to show you my favorite scene from The Losers: ( embed behind the cut of Chris Evans singing Journey )
Not sure if my favorite part is that he DOES THE ACTUAL DYNAMICS in the line "it goes on and on and on and on," or the little dance move he does in the elevator before the doors close. Or... well, it's probably the Cougar bit at the end. Because Cooooooougar. :D
Day 8: Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them.
Welcome,
citrusjava! *smirks at you*
Day 9: In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.
1. Write 250,000 words this year
2. Post at least 100,000 words this year
3. Post one novella length story at least

Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 3
1/3/16 11:13 am
Day 3: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
Going with all SPN this year, because I don't think I've had the chance to rec myself in that fandom yet, and I really like some of what I've done.
1. The Three Body Problem (36834 words)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester, Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester
Characters: Castiel, Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester
Summary: Cas asks the Winchesters on a date. Yes, both of them.
This was some big bang or another last year, and it's my first novella-length Wincestiel (there are three more in the works). I just really like it. For a story based on a silly premise it turned out kind of sweet, and I like it.
2. A Brief Sexual History of Dean Winchester (4704 words)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Rape/Non-Con, Underage, Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester, Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester, Lisa Braeden/Dean Winchester, Benny Lafitte/Dean Winchester, Dean Winchester/Other(s)
This one is dark, but I just really like it; I feel like it explains the way Dean's bisexuality has been displayed in canon. And yeah, I know he's never stated he's bisexual, but his crush on Dr. Sexy alone tells me that he is not a 0 on the Kinsey scale. I think he's pretty decently in the middle there, but at any rate, I feel like the reasons for this are not entirely pleasant, either, and that's what this story is all about. It's definitely not happy fun times.
3. Third Time's the Charm (7454 words)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Castiel/Sam Winchester
Summary: "So you are virgins. Again."
This was my first Sam/Cas of any length (possibly my first ever?) and I just enjoyed the hell out of it. It was fun and funny and I just really love these two being good to each other.
4. Take the Long Way Home (2410 words)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Major Character Death
Relationships: Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester
Summary: Dean wakes up injured, hurting, and alone. And then his day gets worse.
This is my first try at Gothic horror, and I'm really pleased with how it came out.
5. and everything nice (1348 words)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester
Summary: Dean liked the way the pink satin panties felt.
This one could probably have been called A Brief Crossdressing History of Dean Winchester. It's surprisingly angsty and a little sweet, and I had no idea where it was going when I sat down to write it. I love those stories.
Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 2
1/2/16 01:21 am
Day 2: In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.
Oh, man, so I have a lot of things I really would like. Here's just a short list:
1. Check in on

2. Someone to kick my ass for the next week about my
3. Leverage OT3 recs? (Parker/Hardison/Eliot)

1/1/16 09:46 pmDUUUUUUUUUUUDE. This is the best idea EVER. 300 words or a sketch not on lined paper. Plus the ability to write treats. Sign-ups through January 7th.

SO MANY THINGS
12/9/15 12:51 pmOkay, I'm at work, and technically in the middle of a work sprint (in which I have so far gotten Starbucks and lunch and looked at
fandom_stocking) but THESE THINGS NEED TO BE SAID.
1. TEAM VELOCIRAPTOR GOT INTO THE GISHWHES BOOK - TWICE! :D :D :D I will post pics eventually, but I am SO EXCITE! Especially cause there's a picture of my mom in one of the entries. :)
2.
fandom_stocking is live! Submit your stocking here. Fandom stocking is one of my great, fannish, winter loves. It's brilliant. I'll be writing my stocking tonight and then starting to look for stockings I can fill.
3. SPN midseason finale tonight. I have a bad feeling my Sam feels will be engaged to the nth degree.
