Hm. Well, I stopped keeping track of my words when things got really bad at my job (May, maybe?) and then completely lost track of things, because trying to piece that shit together after the fact is hard enough, but several months after the fact? No way. I'm hoping to do better with tracking (and stimulate my daily writing habit) in 2014.

I also posted a bunch of unfinished fic, so my stats page at the AO3 is not quite right either - a lot of those words were written years ago. But here is what I posted anyway, and here's hoping for more and better in 2014.

My very first (and probably last) posted fanart. )

My first (and hopefully not last) collaborative comic. )

My 24 fics. )

My 2 posted podfics. )

The unfinished/incomplete fics I posted. )

Wow, another year gone. Okay, well, it was a rough year for me, creatively. Starting a new job, especially one as hard as consulting, with all the travel, has just been hell on wheels, and I've only just started to get back on track. Hopefully 2013 will be more productive for me. 2012 wasn't horrible, but it was a bit slow: 15 stories in 6 fandoms, total of 63,000 words.

2012 in stories )

I started podficcing this year! Next year, I think I'll take up photoshopping so I can make covers. And vidding. Vidding has been on my list for a while now. At any rate, starting to podfic was VERY exciting. Unfortunately my new kittens have eaten the microphone off my recorder and I haven't replaced it yet, but I will soon because I have [community profile] ante_up_losers to record.

That 'year in writing' meme; I don't generally talk about my writing but what the hell. )

The List )

This was the year of starting and completing novella length works. My big bang (67,255 words) just edged out my mcshep match (55,271 words), and I was writing them at the same time for a lot of the summer. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun (thank you, [personal profile] wintercreek), but it also wore me out and I needed to take two months off writing to be able to get back in the swing of things. I think mostly it was the year of realizing that I shouldn't be signing up for too many challenges. [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa is still a well of inspiration, but most of the others that I did last year were like pulling teeth. I'm going to have to think long and hard about [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_match this year. (I find that pinch hits are really a kick in the butt too - I may just sign up as a pinch hitter for everything.)

Total of 34 stories in 8 fandoms. Over 300k written and over 200k posted (wowza, hadn't expected that, even with the two long stories), so even though it felt a bit rollercoaster-y, this was a good writing year. I've signed up at [community profile] inkingitout for 300k next year; I feel confident I can make that total, and I have some things I'd like to play with in my fic, which I hope to do if I can make the writing even more consistent. I'd really love for this to be the year I finish and post Impromptu. It's a big story, but I've finished two of those now, I know how (and there are no deadlines so I can take proper time to polish up the story afterward).

Also - for those of you that like shiny things (like spreadsheets), I've jiggered the writing spreadsheet I've been using for three (four, maybe?) years now that has really been motivational in keeping my numbers up: 2012 Wordtracker. It's not for everyone, but if it's for you, have at!

So that's 55k posted (29 fics in 12 fandoms and 4 different pairings in SGA (plus gen and solo pron for Cadman, yay!)). I have 133k in my WIP folder (including 71k on Impromptu). I gave up roughly 1.5k over on [community profile] prospectus last year (started this year off with 10k). Not a banner year, all in all. Looking to do better next year.

There's this meme that's going around (stolen from zvi)... )
That other meme that's going around... (this one stolen from sheafrotherdon, among others) )
A selection of stories I'm proud of, including my sga_santa. )

And that other meme, where you put up chunks of your unfinished stories.

The sga_santa I *wanted* to write, but got caught in a left turn (will definitely finish this). )
Last Minute Shopping (a gift for mrshamill that I'm going to try to finish, even though sga_santa madness is over). )
Impromptu, of course. )
The one where John's an ER doc. )
The one I keep calling deathfic. )
My first McKeller fix-it type fic. )
Contrary Motion. )
Cambion. )

And a few more little things (as long as we're being thorough).

General writing goals for 2010: 200,000 words published, write something absolutely every day, post at least four stories a month, write better words (throw less away).
Specific writing goals for 2010: finish all stories in my WIP folder, write my Yuletide story, write my NYR for Yuletide, don't sign up for more than one fest at a time, organize/help write a revised season 5 for SGA.
Other goals sort of related to writing for 2010: read more, keep track of books read, do more fic recs, get started with Wii fit and yoga, and start meditating and writing in the mornings before work.
