2015 Year In Review: General Life Questions

Note from 2012: I've never done one of these before. I'm not a huge reflection type person, normally, but as I get older I find I would like to have this record for... I dunno. Myself, people who might be interested, my family. Whatever.

Note from 2013: I'm not fond of a lot of this meme. I'm terrible at reflection so I'm not sure I'll actually switch out a lot of these questions, but hopefully I will, a few at a time, until I come up with a better set for the yearly review.

Note from 2014: I almost didn't do this one this year, I really hate it. If anyone has suggestions for a better one, link in the comments?

Note from 2015: Here we go again. Still hate some of the questions, not much changes from year to year in a fair number of these categories.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 1

Day 1: In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges?

Hmmmm…. *goes back to 2012*

So I think I was just looking for a way to produce some more content on DW, and enthuse about my love for fandom. I love fandom – and not just the fandom of the show I'm currently in, but the WHOLE of fandom. There are so many really awesome people out there willing to help each other out and make things for each other and argue salient (or completely meaningless) details of things they love… I love all the creative energy that exists in fandom, and I love snowflake_challenge's attitude, particularly when it tries to subvert imposter syndrome, and makes people stand up and be proud of what they've made. I love seeing young or new fans realize that fandom isn't something they should be ashamed of but something they should be PROUD of – that fandom has given them a way to make things or forge relationships that wouldn't have been possible anywhere else.

Now, 2012 was back at my old job, so I had more time, energy, and enthusiasm than I do now. I still love fandom, by I have to be very careful with where I commit my energy because I can wear myself out, and I have a lot of commitments I need to keep in the air. I will try to finish the whole challenge this year, though.
