In your own space, create a fanwork. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Fanwork means anything that you, a fan, creates. If you say it’s a fanwork, then it is! But if you want some suggestions, why not see if one of your fav fanworks creators has a transformative works statement? Many people (me included) have them on their profiles, either here on Dreamwidth or on AO3. Then go crazy! Make art, make fic, make a podfic, make a vid, make a cross-stitch pattern. Crochet, knit. Bake a cake! An interpretive dance of how it makes you feel! Anything!

I've been making a bunch of cold reads the last several days, as a response to my own challenge #8 wish and for birthdays and whatnot, but yesterday I made a podfic of silveradept's And the Cartomancy Caper for their challenge #8 wish. The Librarians/Warehouse 13 crossover, gen, podfic is 22:44.

That's a pretty cool collection. Hope you enjoy!

Full text of the question: [personal profile] grammarwoman: Are there any fandoms that you resisted but fell into anyway? Or ones that you thought would be perfect for you but wound up not clicking?

Yeah, actually, yes to both of these.

So, after SGA, or even while it was waning, after it'd been cancelled, I was looking around hard for a fandom. The SGA folks had scattered, and I tried a lot of the things they were doing, Sherlock and Merlin, a few other things I can't even remember now. None of it hit me. Neither did any show really grab me - or rather, neither did show + fandom. There were shows I loved with fandoms that were either not where I was or just non-existent (Revenge, though I'm off that now), Leverage (though I've seen more love lately), White Collar or fandoms I didn't click with or, I loved the show, but had no real fannish interest (Hannibal, Sleepy Hollow).

I found The Losers, which is a great small fandom, and there was a lot of love and energy there (and I still love it, and will likely play in it forever), but since it was a movie, there wasn't the same sort of excitement I remembered from SGA, when we were all watching the episodes live and there was meta and commiseration about hiatus and... yeah.

And then. And then Supernatural (which I had STUDIOUSLY AVOIDED getting involved with back when it started because I was in SGA and didn't want another fandom, and then later because I had the impression that the fandom was batshit nuts (this impression has not changed)). I've talked about how I fell into this fandom before (thanks a lot, [personal profile] cupidsbow), and it was... tough. I've never been embarrassed about SGA the way I am sometimes embarrassed about SPN. I had no qualms with the fandom (even when they went a little over-the-top) like I do with SPN. But I'm here, and the show has really hooked me (lucky for me Season 10 is just knocking it out of the park for me) and I don't think I'll be going anywhere soon. I'm doing that thing where everything reminds me of the boys. It used to be John and Rodney - eeeeeeeeverything reminded me of John and Rodney. Now it's Sam and Castiel and even Dean sometimes. And this? This is not somewhere I expected to be. And I probably would have laughed at you, if you had said this to me a couple years ago.

As for the other, I've also talked about it before a bit, but: MCU. I love the movies a ton, I'm keeping up with Agents of SHIELD (sort of - I think I'm three eps behind now?), I've even read a few fics (and bookmarked this terrific one: How to Win Friends and Influence People by [archiveofourown.org profile] igrockspock Summary: Maria Hill's definition of "job interview" is different from other people's.). And I've read a few other things - one of [personal profile] devildoll's Steve/Bucky fics from before Cap 1, even, some short Tony/Steve and Bucky/Steve and Natasha/Pepper and I've even betaed Clint/Coulson. I like it; it's fine. I love the characters and the depth, but. I dunno. I'm still just waiting, expecting to get hit with that one episode/movie/idea that knocks me over and drags me into the fandom.

Here is my December meme topics post, if you have something you desperately want to ask me.
kate: Woody from Psych with his arms in the air and a big grin (Psych: Woody YAYE!)
Which I am now consuming from bed.

+++ This awesome vid by (of course) lim: Marvel|MCU. Embedded for those who wish, but please, please comment at the youtube link if you're feeling commenty. )

+++ Odd One Out, Leverage OT3 by [personal profile] thingswithwings (or, [archiveofourown.org profile] thingswithwings, actually). Yes, I am reccing this based on the summary. It's Leverage OT3 and it's T'wings and I have no doubt it is amazing and will usher me into sweet, sweet dreams as I read it in bed.

Summary: "We should talk about Eliot," Alec says, at the same time Parker says, "We should have sex in a hammock."

+++ Perfectly appropriate icon courtesy of [personal profile] clavally. It makes me grin like this: :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

+++ And finally, probably of interest to me and exactly two people on my flist (maybe only one): The top 10 hottest gifs of Jared Padalecki, which is just staying open in a tab for a little while so I can stare at it.

So our TV watching stalled for a while; after White Collar was disappointing at the end, we laid off a bit, then tried Covert Affairs, which was fun for a season and a bit and then got annoying enough that we dropped it.

We watched Dragon Riders of Berk in anticipation of How to Train Your Dragon II, and it was cute! Looking forward to that movie so much.

We ran through the Oceans movies yesterday, plus Sky High and The Covenant and Howl's Castle, and then discussing it today, we've decided to switch over to sci fi. We're finishing up Voyager (I haven't seen the end of it, and [personal profile] soleta hadn't seen it at all, but had been watching it previously. We started up where she left off (mid-way through Season 5) and after seeing a look pass between Seven and Captain Janeway, I went to look for a little fic. Consider this a rec - which is substantial, because it's first person, which I don't hate the way I hate second person, but which has to be really good for me to make it past the first paragraph. Also, explicit femslash, om nom nom, it has been too long.

Relationships: Kathryn Janeway/Seven of Nine
Characters: Kathryn Janeway, Seven of Nine
Additional Tags: First Time, Friends With Benefits
Summary: Seven proposes she and Janeway become friends with benefits.

OMG ANOTHER REC! I am sort of tooling around, not feeling inspired to write even though I want to write (hate that feeling so much) and not wanting to do much else, and this is an amazing something I found on my network page.

How to Win Friends and Influence People (765 words) by igrockspock
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Maria Hill, Tony Stark, Pepper Potts
Summary: Maria Hill's definition of "job interview" is different from other people's.

Debating going to see that Cameron Diaz comedy tonight. I don't know why I find it compelling, but I do. [personal profile] soleta does not, so if I go, I go by myself. :(
kate: Sam has the most ridiculous hair (SPN: Sam haaaaaaaaaaaair)
So, many many years ago, I wrote a Supernatural ficlet when I had only seen a single season. I was prompted with "Radio" and well, of course I wrote Sam singing along to pop music while Dean was sleeping. So, imagine my surprise when rabidly watching all the following seasons, that Sam and Dean do actually sing in the car, and also Sam listens to non-hair metal music. I gloated gleefully in each of those moments.

Right now I am making my posts for the night and then I'm going to settle in with one episode of SPN - 6.15, The French Mistake, which I hear is amazing. I saw about 2.3698 seconds of it in the previews of the last ep and decided to save it for tonight (as it was after midnight last night and I was already going on 36 hours without sleep). Also, a fic bunny with teeth the size of dracula tore into me, so I'm expecting to finish the ep, turn off the iPad, and write my third SPN fic ever.

Oh, right. I wrote my second SPN fic as a SPN/Losers crossover for [profile] elliemuraski's [community profile] fandom_stocking. Femslash, and I'm really rather proud of it. I like the other two things I wrote too (and the Arrow/The Voice not!fic I ruminated on for [personal profile] celli), so here's links to those.

Details on two Losers stories and one Losers/SPN crossover story under here. )

And now I get to gush about the AMAZING presents I got.

I got several lovely graphics for good wishes and IOUs (man people are clever!) as well as just general happiness and recs (multifandom vids and Leverage OT3) and a link to Steve/Tony/Pepper at the AO3 and then...

I got a gorgeous podfic cover for Fill All My Bones with Aches by [personal profile] somehowunbroken, a lovely piece that really captures the mood of that fic and is so so so perfect.

I have no idea how I got so lucky, but I got this amazing Clint&Natasha buddy art from [personal profile] astridv - look at that! It's amazing! Just another day at the office, hahaha, it's so perfect!

Then there's this amazing Cougar/Jensen artwork by the lovely [personal profile] tarlanx, with Cougar's gun and the coloring and the brushstrokes and gaaaaaaah! It's a shared gift with [personal profile] amaresu, and I'm pretty sure we're both pretty much floored.

IDRIS ELBA GIFS. From [profile] maharet83. I mean, seriously. SERIOUSLY. That man is more good looking than any two hundred people. And with the licking his lips. These are amazing, and perfect, and I absolutely did *not* drool on my keyboard, nosiree.

This lovely Hardison/Lucille fic, Frost, by [personal profile] jenna_thorn, is just such a lovely and sweet and perfect depiction of Hardison and his van, with a lovely Eliot thrown in for good measure.

[personal profile] merryghoul wrote a delightful little Leverage/Top Chef crossover ficlet that stars Tara and Sophie! Top Chef Quickfire. This is the most perfect quickfire in all of history, because they have a history and it all comes out in two teenie weenie amazing ficlets.

And if that wasn't amazing enough, [personal profile] anonymous_sibyl made me JESSICA SORROW FIC. I had to scrape my chin off the floor. And it's perfectly voiced - it comes right out of the Nightside, and the ending (Suzie) will make your heart clench. The Teddy Bears' Graveyard. Gorgeous.

Oh, but that's not all! [personal profile] moonlettuce wrote me an amazing Phil/Clint five things fic! It's heartwrenching and heartwarming and just amazing, and man, I am just over the moon, what can I say. A Laundry List of Trouble, awesome.

As if the Idris gifs weren't enough, the lovely [profile] maharet83 made me eight gooooooooooooooooorgeous Leverage icons that I cannot tell you how much I love. SO MUCH. I would've used one for this post, but...

[personal profile] clavally made me five Supernatural icons starring Castiel and Sam's hair. I can't even... I just. *cries*

And on that note, I've done all the work, read the dwircle, put my Fandom Snowflake Day 9 on hold, and am going to settle in with my one ep of SPN tonight. There may or may not (likely not) be fic tomorrow.

ETA: And that was the biggest build-up to nothing. It won't play on the iPad. I can get it to play on my computer, but there's no sound. Apparently someone doesn't want me to watch this.
kate: NOM! Cupcake! (Food: om nom nom cupcake)
Yes, you heard right! It's Hawkeye/Coulson with an amazing Natasha, written by one of my very favorite authors ever, [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan. Comes with a lovely fanmix by [personal profile] verity.

Catch Your Voice is a wonderful and angsty story that I had the great pleasure of betaing. It's a lovely first time with really beautiful Natasha (as cute as I find Phil and Clint, a great Natasha is always going to be my favorite). A well-written treat. Enjoy, all my Avengers friends! :D

ETA: WARNING (non-spoilery): Canon death is grieved in the fic, so consider this a warning if you need one for that. SPOILER: This is not a permanent death-fic.
kate: Kate Winslet is wryly amused (CM: Garcia with her magic wand)
From the Avengers commentary (Joss Whedon):

I always think of Schubert as Mr. Treacle.

Why, you know, Joss? So do I. I just hadn't ever been able to put it so succinctly before.
