Note from 2012: I've never done one of these before. I'm not a huge reflection type person, normally, but as I get older I find I would like to have this record for... I dunno. Myself, people who might be interested, my family. Whatever.

Note from 2013: I'm not fond of a lot of this meme. I'm terrible at reflection so I'm not sure I'll actually switch out a lot of these questions, but hopefully I will, a few at a time, until I come up with a better set for the yearly review.

Note from 2014: I almost didn't do this one this year, I really hate it. If anyone has suggestions for a better one, link in the comments?

Note from 2015: Here we go again. Still hate some of the questions, not much changes from year to year in a fair number of these categories.

1. What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before? giShWHeS. And my god was it a fucking blast. Oh, and Rock Band IV, which is remarkably addicting.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolution and will you make more for next year? What goals do you have for 2016? Write every day. Get back into yoga. Do gisHwhES to the hilt.

3. How did you spend New Year last year? I think we spent it on the couch?

4. How will you spend it this year? Same as last year, but with more Rock Band IV .

5. How much traveling did you do in 2015? So much. Work: Jan-Feb: New York, March-July: Philadelphia with a jaunt to central Illinois, Aug-Sept: downtown Chicago, Oct-Nov: Washington DC, Dec: Boston. Not work: Seattle, San Jose, Virginia for Thanksgiving and Wisconsin for Christmas (I don't really think that counts, it's less than 3 hours drive time). Uh… I think there were other trips but I can't remember them.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015? More even-keeled attitude.

7. What date from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory and why? June 26, 2015, when SCOTUS made same-sex marriage legal for the entire country.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Nursing a very sick cat back to health. It was mostly my wife, but I helped. Also, we made a homemade quilt, and had to Macgyver the hell out of the frame to be able to do it.

9. What was your biggest learning experience? Not getting promoted.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Really sick kitty, which sucked, and a nasty 24 hour flu bug on Christmas. UGH.

11. What was the best thing you got, bought, pilfered, or stole? Rock Band IV, absolutely. And the sock collection we got over Christmas.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? What's your proudest achievement of 2015? Sick kitty again, I think. Er, wait, this is the same as question 8! Shit, need a different question here…

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? What's your most embarrassing moment of 2015? Checking in with my coach about the paperwork for the promotion (assuming everything that needed to be done had been done) and finding out, that, no, I wouldn't be getting one.

14. Where did most of your money go? Rent. Bills. Taxes. Food (including cat food). Vet bills, and Supernatural t-shirts.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? gISHwhEs. Absofuckinglutely.

16. What song will always remind you of 2015? Still Alive by GLaDOS (I know it's late, but I just heard it, and it is weirdly representative of this terrible fucking year).

17. Did you start any new hobbies? Rock Band IV.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Write. Yoga. Travel.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Work.

20. How did you spend Christmas? With family and friends at my mom's.

21. Did you fall in love in 2015? I hate this question. I need to switch it out with something else.

22. How many one-night stands? Discover any new restaurants? David Burke's Primehouse, Chicago (YUM), Zahav, Philadelphia, our new local Thai restaurant… another one downtown Chicago I can't remember. We didn't do a lot of high end or memorable eating out this year. Maybe next year.

23. What was your favorite TV program? What were you watching on TV in 2014? Supernatural. Also enjoyed The Flash, Arrow, The Librarians, Galavant, and Chicago Med. Reality TV: So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef, The Great British Bakeoff, The Voice, Project Runway, Great Food Truck Race, Faceoff. Netflix: Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Leverage (we do a rewatch every year), Daredevil.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Any TV you've given up on? Meant to get to a lot of things but didn't manage to catch up on Elementary, POI, Hannibal, or watch Constantine, Scorpion, Gotham, How to Get Away with Murder, or Jessica Jones, among a host of other things.

25. What was the best book you read? Movie experiences of 2015 you'd like to remember? Mad Max was a giant, welcome surprise in a year of fairly large let downs. Oh, and Inside Out was delightful, too. I was surprised by that one. OH! And Spy! Another terrific movie. Wait – Magic Mike XL was damn amazing as well, and if it counts, I saw Selma this year and it was the most touching movie I'd seen in a long time. Trainwreck was pretty delightful, too. Mr. Holmes was quiet but gorgeous, with really excellent performances. That is way more movies than I expected, tbh.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? I don't know that I found anything new this year, unless you count Rock Band IV.

27. What did you want and get? Any books to talk about? Not this year.

28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? New games? Rock Band IV. Sorry, I'm sure y'all are sick of it, but I just played the drums for two hours and am looking at getting a practice pad and sticks so I can practice in the hotel room at night.

29. What was your favourite film of this year? Fandoms you entered/left? Fannish activities you started/ended? Um, still in SPN. Still in The Losers. On the fringes of the Leverage fandom. I don't do a ton of fandoms, really. I'm working on my Wincestiel Big Bang, draft due in 17 days?

30. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Talk about your 'ships. Well, since I'm all SPN all the time, it's mostly Wincestiel. I've written a little of other pairings, but Wincestiel hits all the notes for me, that's why I love it. Because I'm watching Leverage, Hardison/Parker/Eliot will forever be my OT3. I will always be a John/Rodney and Cougar/Jensen girl, though I only think of them from time to time.

31. What did you want and not get? Any headlines you remember? In historic decision, Court strikes down state bans on same-sex marriage

32. What political issue stirred you the most? Same sex marriage. Trans issues are on my mind. Women's health care under attack.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012? Any new fashion items for you? Socks. I have become a sock enthusiast, particularly with stripes, polka dots, argyle, and fair isle patterns.

34. What kept you sane? Food memories of 2014? David Burke's Primehouse was the big one this year.

35. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? 45 and nothing, actually. I don't ever really do much for my birthday.

36. WhoWhat did you miss? Sugar, in the last months, due to a diet. I'll be missing it again in January.

37. Who was the best new person you met? Uh. I'm trying to think of people I met this year. Oh! My wife's friend, Leina. And Katie and Jenn, too.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015. From 2014 but definitely still applies: NO MATTER WHAT: make lucky sauerkraut for New Year's and eat it (going out tomorrow to buy the necessary items).

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. Where do you want to be next year at this time? With my wife, friends, and family, in a fandom I enjoy, and in good health. <------- Yeah, still true. I'd also like to be getting my promotion and big bonus and thus looking seriously at buying a house. <-------- Sadly, still true.

40. Did you enjoy this year? For the first time, I'm going to say no. There was way to much garbage and nowhere near enough good. Fuck 2015, and let's ring in 2016.

I need to attempt to recreate their crust at some point, again. XD

-laughs- It's okay. Me and Jenn have both met literally a couple hundred people from online -- we met on a telnet BBS that had yearly picnics -- so I know how you can know a person enough that they register as "old friend", even if you've never met them IRL.
