So... I am registering for gishwhes (greatest international scavenger hunt the world has ever seen), brainchild of Misha Collins.

Next year, I plan to take a week of vacation and do it with my sisters and other folks TBN. This year, I just want to get my feet wet and not have any pressure to be all MUST WIN OMG (I expect next year to be like that). So, anyone want to join me? curiouscorvid? clavally? I figure we just do what we can do, enjoy ourselves and have fun, and thank our lucky stars for Misha. Anyone else interested? I figure we can come up with a team later.

It does cost - there are multiple levels of registration fees (I love how they are completely random):

$18.89 - Basic GISHWHES Registration
$47.77 - Secret Holiday Card
$98.21 - GISHWHES Flag-Cape "Flape"
$249.69 - “MISHA NOTIFIER” and “GISHWHES Survival Kit”

If you do sign up, and are willing, please use my email as a referral (it's my work email because it's associated with real life money etc, so I'll need to give it to you - lemme know and I'll PM you with it).

And then lemme know who you are, so we can get together!

And of course I left this until the last minute, but: if you sign up before April 1, you get 108 gishpoints. Not being an alum, I have no idea if that means anything or not, but what the hell. I figured it's probably best to leap before I look in the case of anything to do with Misha Collins.

Ok, so this combined with starting Camp Nano today has me too excited and a little nervous No, really nervous. OMG /flails/

Ok, phew. It's gonna be GREAT!

So, maybe we need a Velociraptor gishwhes icon, eh?

And I have 3-5 possibles who might be interested if you end up needing more people on the team! (But if we don't need 'em, - they snoozed; they losed?)

NOTES:
FYI - Once you're in the team, it lists you with your real name so if you're worried about mixing that up with your fannish persona, that's a consideration! (It's not for me, but I know for some ppl it is).

Also, you can always register at the cheapest tier, and upgrade it later if money is a concern

Lastly, if you don't have money to register, you can always sign up for a gishcholarship and see if someone will pay your fee for you! (Apparently a lot of people do this bc gishers are amazing and generous people - possible due to the cult of Misha <3

Yeah - I went with my real name stuff because there was money involved. I keep those things very separate, so I won't be linking gishwhes to anything kisahawklin-based.

YAYYYYYYYYYYY! The team is 15 people, and I'm pretty sure we won't get 15, but you never know! If the folks are cool (I totally trust your judgment) then lemme know, I will send them invites! And I'm happy to fund folks, too - I can pay for them when I send the invite if they need help.

Yeah, I did the same Really, I'm not worried about you guys knowing my real name as I'd be more concerned about some of my real life peeps knowing my fannish name :P

I don't want to pressure them to join, but want to give them a chance to commit before it's too late. I saw how quickly you filled up that Camp Nano cabin so... who knows?!

AWESOME!!! Yeah, I actually had someone that wanted to join Camp Nano after the cabin was full. I felt so bad! I never expected to get together a cabin of that many people that quickly!

Hee, the velociraptor is my wife's thing - and my browser tells me I spelt it wrong, so good job me (should be veloceraptor, I think? - oh, no, that comes up as a mistake, too, what the heck!.

And I'll pass that along. I think some of the hesitation is from people who don't know what they'll be doing this summer, and others are just waffling. But they know I'm in a group and that if they wait too long they won't get to join. And if it doesn't work out, at least I won't feel any guilt about it because I told them! :D


(Why am I at work? I totally want to get a velociraptor and put a flower crown on him and gishwhes 2015 or something. It's important bizness, don't you know?)


I'm not sure if I'll be working during gishwhes, but either way I SHOULD have access to the shop, which means that if my boss is cool with it, I can borrow prosthetic limbs, fake blood, heads, pregnant bellies, silicone babies etc. I don't really know WHAT to expect, but I'm sure some of this will come in handy. :D

I just hope I don't have to go out too much and interact with strangers, but if so, I bought a blue wig on aliexpress, as well as a flower crown. :D If I look interesting maybe they'll approach me?

Also - clavally is going to be crazy busy at work (and I expect to be, too), so unless they think they might be completely available that week, I don't think it'll be a problem. We're the fun team! No pressure! WITH TALONS!

I hope so! I'd like to end up in the coffee table book that commemorates the whole year. :D That's pretty much my main goal. I don't expect to win, but if we could do something so well we get that, I'd be thrilled.

I'm happy to hear that you're focusing on having fun and not winning though! That's where I am. Maybe next year we could go hardcore and be very competitive, but right now I'm too new and afraid to commit that much. Also, I have a toddler, so there's only so much time I can commit if I am working without being a terrible parent! (Although if I'm off, she can come along with me and entice strangers into getting pics taken!)

I don't like having my pic taken either bc I have the most awkward smile when I know it's coming, but whatever. :p I will try to be strong! Velociraptor strong!

Man, me too! That is an excellent goal, to make the coffee table book. I just want to make something awesome, you know? Yeah, I think in the first year, going for excellent fun and participation is probably better than going for the win - especially since some of these teams have waaaaaaay more resources and time than we will.

Aw, yay for taking the toddler along - that's an excellent idea, and definitely an enticement for strangers! ... Ew. That came out sounding SO MUCH WORSE than it was in my head.

Yeah, me neither - I can't take vacation that week because my sister's wedding is two weeks after and I think I might need to take time off for that, so I'll be doing what I can around work hours. clavally has huge reports due that week, too, so we'll be the slackers who do like, three things and are all giggly about the potential. You're welcome to join anyway - it's all about the funtimes this year!
