One sentence fic meme.

I'm sure there have been a number of these before, but I am making one up on the spot because I need some joy right now.

Give me a fandom and at least one other thing (prompt, kink, pairing, color, whatever) and I will attempt to write you a one sentence fic.

Fandoms on offer: The Losers, SGA, early SPN (as in, S1), Elementary, Arrow, Buffy/Angel, Firefly, Alexander (2004) (or maybe Renault-verse, though it's been a while), Marvel Cinematic Universe (I love the name of this fandom - it sounds so cool! (not that Avengers doesn't)), Priest, Push, Die Hard 4, The Mummy, Master and Commander, The Fast and the Furious, basically almost any semi-popular U.S. movie ever (I'll let you know if it's not something I can do), Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings (RPF there too), Temeraire, the Belgariad and Mallorean.

Also, I'm not current on the following, but I'll give them a try, provided you choose something from at least a year or two ago: Leverage, Criminal Minds, Haven, Revenge, White Collar, Psych... and anything else I've mentioned in passing on this journal.

(Also, hilariously, I listened to the audiobook of the Belgariad and Mallorean, so I had NO IDEA how Cyradis was spelled until just this minute.)

Oh hey, good audiobook version, hey? (I read them obsessively as a kid and got the audiobooks a while ago when I needed Distraction - I normally have issues with audio input but the reader's voice just worked for me.)

See, I am fond of the canon pairings - or at least the version I have of them in my head >.> - but the ones that live here/I write are pretty firmly monogamous and I suck at running parallel versions of the same canon in my own head, even if I can (happily!) read them.

And the cat would always totally be all WHAT ARE THESE OTHER HUMANS DOING IN MY BED WITH MY HUMAN AUGH.

Hahaha, yeah, Zakath's cat/kittens are some of my fave characters!

The reader on the Belgariad really grew on me - I was enormously fond of him. Sadly, the version I had of the Mallorean was a terrible reader, but I was hooked, so I just had to stick with it.

Interestingly, one of the things that was... let's say less than pleasing... about the Mallorean for me was the "BABIES! BABIES! MARRIAGE AND BABIES!" ending(s) which made me cringe - and that sort of thing makes me want to write ALLLLLLLL the alternative relationship fic. (Though I, too, am quite fond of the canon pairings!)

Oh no! That's really too bad - I have the same guy reading all of them. Hmmm. Sadly they are audible files so they don't share worth a damn, but I shall ponder it.

Yeah. Me and my friend celeloriel decided it would be way more fun if, for example, Betra wasn't dead and she and Velvet had had a Thing, and so when Silk comes back from Mallorea it's to discover that both the women he's in love with (in different way) are totally around and flirting with each other and then he is like CANNOT COPE, BACK TO MALLOREA.

They drag him back after a while. Then Velvet gets pregnant and he once again goes CANNOT COPE, OFF TO MALLOREA. She lets him get away with that for a few months before sending Zakath a letter saying "if your majesty would be so kind, gather up my husband and send him home."

(I also have way, way too much next-gen stuff in my head. *headdesk* Where my brain has gone WHEEE, let's fix the erasure of queer/non-monogamous people in this world! Also it then stole marvel's Thor and Loki and made them Velvet and Silk's kids and Javelin's major headache. Plus all my Marags.)

Ahahahhaa, ME TOO. I mean, there was some good stuff in there, but then also so much stuff that made me want to yank all my hair out.

MARAGS. THAT WOULD BE MADE OF AWESOME. Also Thor and Loki as Silk and Velvet's kids FTW! I LOVE ALL YOUR IDEAS. :D :D :D

Also - the guy who did Belgariad? The way he read Hettar sounded just like Cougar, so in my head? THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON. I WANT ALL THE HETTAR FIC.

I kind of fell in love with Taiba and Relg this time around and ended up writing their epic 30K Very Special And Unique love-story, and then of course got my head flooded with their sons and daughters. One of whom I married off to Garion's eldest. (And boy does she make Polgara secretly flail. A lot. Not least because when you've grown up with a god singing you happy songs every morning as you wake up because he is JUST SO FUCKING HAPPY THAT YOU EXIST, sorceresses stop being quite so scary.)

So the Marags are this big gigantic happy and unique family and are all very puzzled that nobody outside of them seems to get their father's (dry as a fucking desert, flawlessly deadpan) sense of humour, and wander around coincidentally stealing brides and grooms from everyone else. (Entirely consensual stealing, mind - the spouse is always quite happy to come with them! The spouse's parents/family/whatever, sometimes not so much. So far Mara has poached spouses for his children from Tolnedra, Nyissa, Algaria and Ulgo, not counting Geran.)

celeloriel and I also decided that Ce'Nedra makes a lot more sense if you assume that a) dryads take about twice as long as humans to mature (so that emotionally/etc she's still more or less sixteen-eighteen even by the end of the Mallorean) and b) refined sugar is actually an addictive drug to dryads (drawn from Polgara's Disapproval at Belgarath giving them sweets in the Wood of the Dryads that once) and nobody realized that the Borune dryad women were actually still dryad enough that they are basically on the equivalent of speed all the time.

(Ce'Nedra was quite . . . . VEHEMENT about some things when she figured that out after a particularly bad winter when all luxury food shipments stopped.)

Khedan ([Thor]) and Lodar ([Loki]) are, unsurprisingly, way WAY more adjusted and not crazy as Silk and Velvet's kids, and as a team are absolutely terrifying and exist to give their royal cousin's majesty as many headaches as they can. (Their older sister married a Tolnedran noble-merchant and is currently attempting to eclipse her father as "richest person in the world".)

AND THEN THERE'S ZAKATH'S KIDS. :D One of whom I marry off to one of Urgit's daughters with Khedan functioning as more or less the relationship version of the cat who shows up demanding affection and adoration every six months or so.

Bwah. You know, I hadn't linked Hettar and Cougar together? But now that you've done it, they may explode in my head. (Beldaran, Garion and Ce'Nedra's eldest girl, is totally engaged to Hettar's eldest; the two of them mutually adore their girl, who is MtF. I decided that the Algarians are totally pragmatic about that, and it only gets tricky if actual dynasties are at issue, and even then, you can always get around it. Because I've decided the Algarians are pragmatic about a lot and side-eye their cousin-societies ALL THE TIME.)

I just read it the other fucking day, I was looking for Belgariad stuff and was so thrilled to find Relg/Taiba!

Also, oh my goodness all your amazing plans! THIS MUST ALL BE FIC SOMEDAY. I REQUIRE IT.

Cougar = Hettar FTW! Both characters make me ridiculously happy, and yeah - I totally buy that pragmatic sort of way about them. IL horse peoples. :D

While I cherish and have delight at every comment on that fic (seriously, it is one of the few things I have ever written that I remain proud of and makes me so happy when people like it, I go back and look at it when I am like FML, I CANNOT WRITE ANYTHING, I AM AWFUL AND SHOULD EAT WORMS), I am le shit at remembering and connecting names. *facepalm* ANYWAY. I AM THRILLED YOU LIKED IT.

It's one of the ones that shows up in bits and pieces. Oh, and Lodar's fiance is totally my girl who is like "no, no, I wasn't LOOKING for a Steadfast Husband, I saw a pretty flying falcon and as long as he comes home to me and I get to look at him I do not give a shit what he does, go away I can manage my own affairs shut up daddy". Because damn it, women can have moments of "no you are shiny wild and free just like you are let me stare at you", too. (She is a Sendarian countess-to-be. If she wanted a Steadfast, Responsible man, her country is LOUSY with them, she promises.)

Zakath's kids are his eldest, who is a girl and terrifying and is going to be the Empress of Mallorea, his second, who is quiet and responsible and more or less running the army, his third who has the sexual morals of his cat and you'd think didn't have a thought between his pretty ears but is actually sharp as a knife (who is the one I eventually marry off, hilariously), and then his twelve year old daughter who is, at twelve, already helping Brador run the intelligence service. (Her other siblings are desperately glad she is on their side).

Someday all the fic will happen. :D Theoretically. *falls over under the weight of all she has to write in her life*

You know, I realized that's how I feel about most of my Losers fic. I just self-recced today and I was like... "I actually like most of the stuff I've written for that fandom! \o/"

And Zakath's kids, ZOMG. :DDDDDDDDD

And yes, the fic will never be all done, but more inspiration is better than less, I think!
