ARG. Help please?

So, I knew when we finally went live with the kinkmeme, things we missed would come to light (we just didn't have the time to go over and over and over the posts for weeks - we did this all in a few days (sucking up WAAAAAY more of my work and non-work hours than it should have)).

This thoughtful commenter gave us what-for for excluding the ladies (and they were right). And dammit, I tried SO HARD to be inclusive with the examples, that my co-mods said 'uh, that's unreadable' and asked me to strip them out. So I did. But without the thoughtfulness I put into them in the first place.

As far as the banners, I did ask for one that was not John/Rodney, because I am EXTREMELY aware of my bias, both toward them and toward slash. I even suggested John as the second banner (for the non-pairing and gen folk) because he seems to be the most popular character all around (even though Rodney is my favorite). It was totally my fail for not suggesting a woman, women, or even the team.

I hate it when I try really really hard and fail anyway (yes, yes, I know, pity me, right). Okay, pity party over.

In order to fix my fail (because I have not the skills, dammit), any of you lovely people out there have time to make a few banners with femslash pairings, singular women, rarepairs, or anything else for the sga_kinkmeme? Maybe one with just Atlantis, for the gen folk? (OH GOD NOW I WANT ATLANTIS SOLO KINK...) I will give you virtual cookies and favors and whatever you want if you will help me out, here. <3<3<3

I'll try to make some. Do you have a template? I looked at the others and don't immediately recognize the fonts, but if you don't have a template (or, heck, even if you do), do you need them to follow that format or can I go at least part way to town? :) Should the size stay 320x240 or do you want larger or smaller ones, too? Icons?

And is there a deadline?

We don't have a template, we're all for any kind of creativity, and I don't think we honestly care what size the banners are. The ones we have up have been resized; they were much larger before. (I don't know anything about the html that was in there, I just created the link and the textbox around it).

Icons too, would be fantastic! Anything and everything you want to give us would be super-fantastic and greatly appreciated!

Technically, no deadline as the community is rolling - there'll be a post every four weeks - but our first post is going up Monday, and I'd really like to have at least one banner with a female character in it so I can pimp on girlgay and sg_femslash before then.

(I think I can move my puppy-pile fic up the ranks of things needing to be written, for one... watching The Losers last night, the part where Pooch gets shot and Cougar's yelling his name... it gave me warm fuzzies. And heartache. It was a little weird to have those at the same time.)

You don't have to do anything in return, I love messing around in Photoshop. :) However, if you wanted to write me some Cougar/Pooch h/c, I wouldn't turn it down, because omg that scene just kills me so hard.

So, I made some banners, which I think I should PM or email you with instead of commenting here, because it'd be sort of image-heavy. But I'll do that here in a sec! I haven't made any icons but I'll try to do some tonight or this weekend. :)

Yeah, I hate messing up. And I hate the self-defensive, self-pitying kneejerk reaction I get too. But it's pretty obvious they were right, and so fixing it is really the only reasonable response, you know? Trying isn't actually good enough. Trying until you get it right is the only way.

I just surfed over to check out the kinkmeme stuff today and I have to say, you guys get major props from me for responding with "oh crap, let's fix this" instead of ignoring the issue or arguing about it. To be honest I was a little put off to see just the m/m banner and the John one myself, but now I'm glad I kept reading. :)

I'll try to post about the LJ version to lostcityfound sometime today to help you reach out to the het & gen crowd.

ETA2: And thank you for help reaching out to the het and gen crowd - we really appreciate it. I personally have a thing for non-sexual kink, so I'd love to see if the gen crowd might take that and run with it.

That is basically EVERYTHING I LIKE in movies. Seriously. I like Anaconda. And Boa vs. Python. And lots of horrible so-called action sci-fi movies that have, like, styrofoam sets and bargain basement effects. The pure shit that I enjoy watching seriously cannot be textually expressed.
