Jeanine/Phillip, Hip hop. Cute, good chemistry. She's lovely - their synch is good, and she's obviously worked her ass off, and what a fine ass! She's a good-sized girl for a dancer, and that makes me love her. I LOVE Tabitha and Napoleon. Phillip is one of my favorites this season; I hope he stays that way.

Asuka/Vitolio, Broadway. Oh Tyce. His stuff is getting a little predictable. Eep, their moves aren't together. Not their styles, definitely. I think there's a decent chance they'll be in the bottom three tomorrow. Also, they lack both chemistry and whatever it is that really makes me want to watch. I don't have that breathless feeling when I look at them.

Karla/Jonathan, Cha cha. God, the strobe lights? Really? Nice shirt. Did he miss a lift, or was that choreographed? This is a little dull, this routine. I think they're a definite possibility for the bottom three too. Especially with Wade Robson choreography coming up. (I'm starting to think the reason they have ballroom in this contest is because it takes real strength of personality to pull it off. No matter how hard the routine, it's just not that interesting.)

Randi/Evan, Contemporary. Oh my. Chemistry could be a problem. I love his technique, but he hasn't got the strongest center. This is not Tyce's best routine ever. Okay, it wouldn't honestly surprise me to see these two in the bottom either, and that makes me sad, as I like Evan A LOT. OHOHOHOH, HE HAS ANOTHER BROTHER! ILHIM EVEN MORE NOW. Okay, so I haven't said anything about Randi at all... hrm. She didn't not impress me. But she didn't make an impression, either.

Paris/Tony, Hip Hop. Her outfit is hot as hell. She's not quite as smooth as I'd like to see. Good synch. He's not quite as impressive as he should be considering this is his style. She's also not quite as clean on her hits as I'd like to see. Mmmm, they've got a disadvantage in that Tabitha and Napoleon's other routine was much better. Mary's got a point - that wasn't a memorable routine. The crit has been real crit, though, not just mean. That's good.

Caitlin/Jason, Bollywood. Oh god, Bollywood is TOUGH, but one of my favorite things ever. I like them as a couple - I hope they go far. Oh wow, that was a tough hold. Really excelent synch. Great style, hands and head, really well done. Both have personality - she holds her own, which is impressive, really. Ooh, lost the synch a bit there. Wow, that's tough freaking choreography, and ending with a kiss, really? Really? I'm liking them - they'll definitely be here next week.

Janette/Brandon, Foxtrot. Okay, clearly they want to make it tough for Brandon. God, Brandon is so beautiful. Oh, she's so cute! It's nice that it wasn't easy for them. She's got a fantastic smile. Wow, where's the rest of her dress? Mary's going to rip them a new one - he's not holding his frame. She's almost cheesy, a bit over the top. Definitely potential to be in the bottom three. I think Brandon's safe if that happens, but not necessarily Janette. HRM. I underestimated Mary, I guess - Nigel gave the crit. Huh.

Ashley/Kupono, Jazz. Oh wow, Wade, you look good. Oh, they're good together. Nice hair and outfits. And a puppy. These guys are shoe-ins for the top three. Wade is all about the full performance. That's nice to see. Oh, good synch there. What a lovely routine! I like them a lot, and that was very memorable.

Melissa/Ade, Contemporary. Great lifts, but Richard Marx? Oh god. That's my high scool years talking to me. ACK. Beautiful choreography from Mandy Moore, who is really hit or miss for me. Good chemistry, if a little naive. Not that that's huge, for this. It's supposed to be romantic, I guess.

Kayla/Max, Samba. These two have some incredible stage presence. I'm liking her more than I thought I would. Max is really good in his style. Her technique is lacking a bit, but considering she's never done this, I am impressed.

WADE ROBSON IS A GENIUS (Nigel said so, and he's right, I think!). I'm telling you, it's the most obvious cast of Rodney EVAR.

Crap. WHO IS TEYLA? I didn't see anyone with her sense of purpose, or the... seriousness I was looking for. *watches again* Hrm - maybe Karla! She's got a lot of personality when she dances. Or Caitlin? I think she's going to go far.

And Lorne? Kupono or Tony?

WHO IS ADE? HELP ME, PEOPLE.

Ade: Musician, strong. Hrm. This is tough. Lorne
Ashley: Okay, she's a little interchangeable with a few others for me. Katie?
Asuka: Cute, sexy, petite, lots of personality... I'm thinking Cadman.
Brandon: Amazing technique, holds his personality in, but he's a joker under there, I think. I'm pretty sure Brandon's gotta be Ronon.
Caitlin: Not a huge personality. Reserved. Novak? Oh, I think she's in it for a while though - Weir? She could be a good Weir. Or hey, Kate? Or is she my Teyla?
Evan: Young. Very young, but sweet and sorta smooth. Woolsey?
Janette: Great smile, good personality while dancing, cute. Amelia?
Jason: Great personality, AWESOME dancer, likely to go far. Possibility for Ronon, though I'm thinking Ronon's likely to be Brandon (less talking). Oh, hey. He's probably John.
Jeanine: Hard worker, not a stick, sweet. Jeannie?
Jonathan: Oh god - he just said the words I had John thinking. He's also a little too innocent-seeming (all right, not cynical). Lacking in personality, a bit. Chuck?
Karla: Lots of personality while she's dancing. Dusty? Or is she my Teyla? Teyla?
Kayla: Fresh-faced, raised by grandparents. She's a little competitive under there, I think. Miko?
Kupono: Sincere and adorable - I thought he'd be quirkier, but he's not, really. He, too, seems Lorne-ish to me. Grodin?
Max: Zelenka? I like him being a hot salsa dancer.
Melissa: Older, a little kinky. Weir?
Paris: Tragic backstory, not long for this contest, I don't think. Sora?
Phillip: GOOFBALL. I honestly can't think of anyone, but I like Chuck for it. OH WAIT. FORD IS TOTALLY THIS KIND OF GOOFBALL.
Randi: Married. Not terribly interesting. Keller?
Tony: Young, no parental support, a little clean cut. Lucius. (Thank you, [personal profile] healingmirth!)
Vitolio: Rough backstory, a bit lacking in technique, a bit shy. Halling? Parrish?

tastes are never wrong! but wow, I'm so bad at guessing what the judges will think that you might as well take the opposite and call it. I don't even know.

But now I've switched over to Criminal Minds because we can haz creepy, evil Mitch Pileggi. I'll just have to read your recap for the rest.

Oh, and find the Bollywood on YT, because I want to see it again....

Great lifts, but Richard Marx?

Mandy is all about the Music of Her Youth. I didn't mind the song choice so much as it seemed like it was oddly edited or something. Dunno, I'd have to rewatch to pin down what bugged me.

I'd go with Lorne for Ade - I think Kupono's just too flighty, naturally, even though he clearly buttoned-down to prove himself to the judges, which is totally a Lorne thing.

I can almost see Kupono as a sort of Woolsey, who was very sure of what he was supposed to be doing, until it became clear that he completely didn't understand what the rules were to winning, and then, suddenly he became awesome in his own right again.

I don't know how you feel about Sam Carter, but I could see a certain type of Sam as Randi.

Kayla could be Miko? I don't have a good grasp of Miko, except for a sort of surface impression of being a bit sheltered as an academic. Which is not at all the same thing as being adored by your grandparents, but then it sort of is.

My total bias against Tony wants him to be Lucius - all surface charm, a huge gaping chasm of lack of substance, and then that kernel of real person if you poke at him long enough.

I was thinking Woolsey for Evan, though,

bump Grodin down to Kupono then? that could work

I'm liking Karla - do you think she'd be a good Teyla? I think she's going to be around for a while.

I can't help to think that Jonathan is going to keep dragging her into the bottom three, but she can probably keep herself in it. Her solo tonight was iffy, but at least it wasn't one of the completely identical contemporary solos. Fic-casting wise, Teyla would be a good balance for a younger, more inexperienced dancer, whether or not Karla is that person.
