22 Oct - I think I have finished the spooky autumn poem, and am now contemplating doing art/calligraphy/interesting typography for it, inspired by one of the comments on fan Flashworks.

I also did quite a lot of prep work for highlander holiday shortcuts.

But the important thing is the noodling is happening! :o) Go you!
I did a lot of noodling myself yesterday; my other plans were thwarted by severe cramping, so I had a lot of quality time with a hot water bottle and my notebook. ;op 3,2k words; 2,1 for the nostalgia project, NaNo prep and novel noodling (noodling is such a perfect term! ^^ ) on top of the nonfic I'd already reported.

Got to check back in for days 17-23, with links dropped, book club stuff handled, assignments arrived and materials edited and submitted. The writing is coming for those assignments, but apparently the brain needs to gnaw on it some to get it going in the right direction. Oh, well. It'll come in time. I know what I want, I just have to figure out what that is.

Day 23: such a terribly, terribly long day at work. It's hard to come home to stare at a screen after spending a whole day staring at a screen. No proper prose but 288 words outlining the next couple of scenes, so when I come to it tomorrow I won't have to figure quite so much out on the fly.

Day 21: Wrote Yuletide letter and signed up for Yuletide.
Day 22: Had left my computer power cable elsewhere the previous day, thus could not use computer that day. No writing.
Day 23: Received Yuletide assignment, which is definitely doable! \o/ I'm going to adopt your excellent phrase and say that I did some mental doodling on what to write, and count that as writing. Aside from my main fic, I have ideas for at least two treats.

Thank you. I think it's mostly habit, I've been writing 4 double drabbles every Monday for years, and keeping up with other weekly challenges, although I write for fewer now than I used to. Writing is my escape from life.

YAY for rest and good luck on the noodle-to-paper pipeline! :-)

On Day 23, I added 1133 words to the "outline," in this case pretty much continuing a chapter I think will probably end up being completed. (Most of the outline is bits of dialogue, scenes, summaries, but in a few places, I got carried away because I was excited about the characters meeting for the first time, for example, so this chapter is actually a whole thing.)
