on 10/8/11 12:58 am (UTC)As the sufferer of many Fall & Spring headaches, I second your reader who talked about sinuses possibly contributing to a headache that pain pills won't touch. If her remedy wasn't effective--although it should be--try a decongestant along with your pain meds next time. The hot/cold compresses are also good ideas.
More headaches in the Spring/Fall are often due to more allergens floating round for your sinuses to react to, plus leaf-mold & other mold-type allergens. You might also want to get on an all-day allergy med like zyrtec.
(a second cause of headaches that pain pills won't do much for: sensitivity to atmospheric pressure changes. If your doesn't-respond-to-pain-meds headaches often come just before or just after storms, that might be the cause. there's not a lot you can do for these buggers, just suffer through them...)
