My very own take your fandom to work day

So, I think about Rodney every single time someone mentions our APL (applied physics lab) that does top secret work and has major DOD and DARPA funding. John's a little tougher to shoehorn into my workspace, and I got through 1500 words of boring-ass 'this is what I do in a day' and 'aren't those PIs funny/exasperating/amazing/awful' before I realized there is no plot to be had here. It's more than a scene, but seriously, I don't have the interest to try and make this into any more than it is.

John/Rodney, appearances by most of the military cast and mention of Carson.

Take your fandom to work day produced one of my favorite fics ever, toomuchplor's Tactus which is EXACTLY what it felt like to be in conservatory. It's brilliant.

Anybody else feel like taking fandom to work with them?

Nope, but somewhere on my hard drive I have a couple scenes from an epically mary sue romance novel about the local nonprofit executive/community organizer and the apparently-heartless-but-not-really businessman. The businessman probably has sick kids, or pets, or something, that he's worried about. I love my fandoms too much to do that to them.

Ahaha, see, I would totally read that fic! I love that kind of thing. And there's just something really excellent about the competence that comes through when an author is talking about something they know inside and out, you know? I love that.

See, I want to put Zelenka at APL, and have him meet up some night with Lorne, who's either stationed in the area or visiting for work purposes....

My version of taking them to work would be lots and lots of data entry and that's just boring for everyone.

Hahahah, no, really? But they could get together here! There's no saying Zelenka isn't at APL, and doesn't come to ORA to meet Lorne! And Beckett and Cadman can be dating, and... I dunno. Caldwell and Landry?

Can't you just see John and Rodney doing data entry in college to pay the bills? And making up games to pass the time? Or reciting their favorite movies from memory? Come on, it's be hilarious.
