I made some things that I really ought to be proud of, and I've been all over today talking about things and having ideas, and I just think I should post about them.

1. eastwick_fic. This show is just... mmm, those women! I love them! I want more of them! I don't know Paul Gross from a hole in the ground (sorry, dS fans), but I think I'd like to see some well written plotty fic about him. I know I want more femslash, because GUH.

2. prospectus. cesare was thinking of having a WIP amnesty. I was thinking that if a bunch of people did WIP amnesty together, it would be less terrifying (for those of us who have never done it before). I'm terrible at both pimping and contest-y type things, but I think prospectus really could be used to get some of those ideas rolling around in our heads and/or WIP folders out into the world, and clear up the guilt or frustration or whatever it is, and move on with whatever else we're working on.

3. queerlygen. I've recently had a bit of a discussion in my journal about warnings/headers/contains and it reminds me that this is one of the reasons I subscribe to the philosophy behind queerlygen. That and fiercelydreamed is an incredibly thoughtful and articulate mod, and this is a nice space in which we can enjoy stories about queer people that are about the people part, and not the queer part.

4. 3_ships. I have this incredible urge to sign up for every sesa ever. I'm not confident enough about most of my fandoms to volunteer any threesome though, and the only one I'm pretty confident about (SGA), there are several characters that would absolutely kill me to have to write. It's like when I signed up for rarepairs and had to write Sheppard/Heightmeyer. It nearly broke my brain. So I don't think I'll sign up (even though I have awesome story requests), but I might attempt pinch hitting. I seem to be able to get past whatever issues I have if I don't really have enough time to stew about them. YOU, however, should sign up. Because you're probably not as neurotic as I am, and just think of the Star Trek/Heroes/Leverage/Psych/Eastwick threesomes you could request! There's a bunch more awesome fandoms, so check it out.

5. soleta and I once talked about rewriting Season 5 of SGA. It's been half done for us already, if we take Ordinary Life in lieu of Brain Storm, and... a couple of more fic/ep replacements that I can't remember right now. I don't think I'd ever manage the whole of Season 5, even with soleta's help, but what if a bunch of writers wrote episodes? We could rewrite Season 5 the way it should have been done! We can fill in storylines and delete bad characterization! We can make a Season 5 that will make us proud! Do you think we could get 20 writers to write an episode each? I'm tempted to do it anonymously; each writer could put in a prospectus or two, or ten, and then have people vote by poll to see which eps actually get put into our AU Season 5. We'd need a couple of people to oversee the whole season, to make sure characterization matches up and any more-than-one episode arcs get taken care of. Hrm. Does this interest anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hrm. re: #5 -- would we be writing strictly gen stories, or could we have relationships? Or hell, even an awkward AMTDI episode?

That's one of those things I think I might let other people decide. Part of me dreams that we could get the whole fandom involved. Another part of me thinks it's likely to just be McShep people (with a side of Lorne/Zelenka people).

In general, on the show, I approve of subtext over text, because interpretation is what makes it fun! But this isn't exactly the show, so... *shrug* I'm on the fence.

Hrm. Let me ponder this...the one and only time I tried to do a virtual season, I had a horrible experience. I know it would be different with you guys, but still....

Yeah, as I was typing this post, I had a moment of 'oh shit, what if it's crappy? What if there's a bunch of in-fighting'? And then I decided that I have some really cool people on my flist and it could be so cool, too! And we could write in pairs, maybe, to keep each other honest, or brainstorm as a team for overarching plot lines, or... I mean, it could be really awesome. *hopes*

I think it would be interesting to re-write what happened, i.e. using the episodes they gave us as as a basis, but doing them right, without the multitudes of fail.

I would be so on board with a Virtual Season 5 of SGA. (I would be pretty happy with a Virtual SGA, period, just rewrite the entire show, but that really is crazy.) I've thought about it several times but I'm so not the person to organize something that ambitious. See my yesterday post about not finishing things. :(

Another thing I would struggle with is... I would be very okay with the Keller/McKay relationship if it were written well. So should a virtual season 5 be McShep (implied by the Ordinary Life for Brain Storm reference) or Jennifer/Rodney or gen?

(Regardless of the answer, I still think in my heart of hearts that John Sheppard is/should be queer, but maybe he is queerly gen, or maybe he comes to terms with being asexual.)

PS, there's also Theory of Everything for The Shrine, and there's a fan story that preceded Inquisition and was on the same idea. Those are also John/Rodney though, along with Ordinary Life, and it would mean virtual s5 would contain at least three J/R first times. *g*

Yeah, see, I'm not sure how to answer the question about McShep, McKeller, or gen (hahaha, I wrote Jen - I think it should be Jen!).

I'm really on the fence. I think if we could get different parts of the fandom working together, gen would be best. I think it's most likely, though, that the John/Rodney people are both more likely to be interested and more likely to actually participate.

It's one of the things, if this could get a wide enough audience, that we could maybe leave up to the readers, do a broad sort of poll for overarching character arcs, something like that?

Either way, I completely agree with Sheppard being queer - asexual, perhaps, or simply refraining because of his job... hrm. I think there's a million ways to play that.

One of the things I'd like to see a lot more of, though, is team. I hated how much the team dynamic was missing in S5. :(

Yes, exactly. Right now I'm avoiding S5 (I look at the DVDs every day and grimace), but I still sort of slot those fics in place of the eps that they got wrong wrong wrong. :( (Though three John/Rodney first times is pretty funny.)

I think some of them, yes. But there are a couple we could skip entirely, I think, and replace with either one-offs or take care of other plot lines TPTB left out.

I'm on the fence about that. I really feel that Ordinary Life did it right, you know? So I'm thinking we could skip it. Unless the McKeller sticks, in which case I think we'd need to get it right.

But this is one of those things, if we could get enough people, we could decide together, you know? I'd really love to have a collaborative effort deciding which eps/plot lines to keep, what character arcs we want, how to actually end the show...

Also, our alternating Dean and Kate icons are cracking me up. :D

The problem with deciding via committee is that if we get a lot of McShep people, the rest of us are screwed in terms of seeing our ships....

I don't think that's necessarily true - and the people I think that would actually write the eps are probably more broad than tight McShep OTP. I don't really want to redo S5 as a big McShep-fest. I don't honestly think most people really would want that (or at least, the people that I'd be interested in doing this with).

Eastwick is just made for the ladyslash. IT IS MADE OF AWESOME! And I requested it as a Yuletide fandom, along with Whip It, which is another possibility for a big ladyslash fandom. \o/

That would be a yay for me -- I *like* McShep, but not to the exclusion of anything else like a lot of the McShep peeps do....

I think it's the angle of the pic that makes him seem more Dean-ish -- I'm not sure when this was taken, but it is probably pre-SPN, so yeah, he's a bit younger than Jensen-as-Dean.

I totally get it. I love McShep, but I really wouldn't want it to become S5 AU that's all about John and Rodney (or at least as a couple). I want teaminess, Teyla and Ronon, minor character love! Zelenka was sadly absent in S5, as were a lot of the minor characters. And I think Keller probably could be a) completely revamped and/or b) get a severe cut in face time.

Oh, you mean we'd actually get to see the minor characters when it matters? It would be lovely if we could have a Keller who was somewhat consistent, too -- I loved the *idea* of Keller, but wasn't so fond of the execution.

Yes, this. I think Keller could've been a great character, or at least an interesting one. As she was written, she was a terrible doctor, and inconsistent character in general.

Also, more Lorne, please. I'd love to see Cadman come back, and Caldwell, and Halling and Jinto.

Maybe you could co-write? Or just cheer! I'm looking for all kinds of support - I think this could be so great if we just got a bunch of great minds thinking on it. Like a team of tv writers, but AWESOME.

Mmm...yes. More people thinking of Lorne leads to more people writing about Lorne, and really, that can only be a good thing.
