Snowflake Challenge Day 15
1/16/18 12:24 amDay 15
In your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, or to your flist/circle/followers. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to.
You know, on occasion, I have difficulties with fandom. There's some weird-ass crap going down on tumblr right now about comments and kudos and I am in that middle stage of BOFQ-dom that means I've seen the arguments before but I am not ready to sit back and just let them slide by as the silliness we old'uns have figured out already. So yeah, I engage, to some degree. Because we all learned fandom from those who were here before us, right?
I mean, honestly - I would not be the person I am today with people in fandom gently (or not-so-gently sometimes) letting me know that I should maybe think deeply about things and see if perhaps I could have a better, kinder, more diverse, or more accepting way of thinking. And I have come around, in so many ways.
So thanks, fandom, for making me a better person, and making me want to stand up for people who can't stand up for themselves. And making me want to help shine the light a little brighter for others to find their way in fandom. We can do it. Fandom is a community we build together, one of support and love and awesome fucking fanworks.
Thanks to everyone who has opened my eyes, been kind to me, educated me, provided endless entertainment and thought-provoking content, thank you all for being part of something that is one of the very best parts of my life. <3
