So I'm going through my journal to make sure the posts are tagged appropriately, and I'm coming up on a year ago. It's been an interesting journey, for sure. But then I came across this meme, and I wanted to play again, so:
Post the last twenty-one first lines you wrote in fanfic.
1. The first time Derek sees him, he barely takes any notice.
2. Dean stares down the barrel of Sam's gun, waiting for recognition to flash in his brother's eyes.
3. "How come I'm always the one they call homophobic?" Jensen asks, and Jared smiles and takes another swallow of his beer.
4. It's not like things even changed that much, really.
5. Dean sees the kid, wringing his hands around some rosary beads, working up the courage to do something.
6. "Hey Dean," Sam said, nudging him under the table, "that girl's staring at you."
7. "I don't like it, man," Jensen says, and Jared grins and slaps him on the back.
8. Sam watches the blood drip out of his arms, the slow drain of his life into a bucket familiar enough that it barely registers in the scope of things he's worried about.
9. Nothing's changed.
10. Sam watches Dean plunge the knife into the kid's chest, slowly, determinedly, without hesitation or doubt.
11. These are the infamous Winchesters?
12. Gadreel sifts through his memories from Sam Winchester.
13. Maritza took a deep breath.
14. Sam's heart pounds as he shuts the door of the Impala, and he takes a second to steady himself before Dean gets in.

17. It's a hotel room somewhere in Montana.
18. "So you are virgins. Again," Cas says, squinting like this doesn't make any sense.
19. Sam is mostly quiet as they hit the road, headed home to the bunker.

21. Sam wakes from a deep sleep, flailing and short of breath.
Hm. That was less interesting than I hoped, thanks to the SPN tagathon. It might be more interesting if I took the opening lines to the last 21 fics I've started that I give a shit about.
