I did it last July and made my goal, but my cabin was stupid and there was no excitement, chatter, or anything else. Anybody got a cool cabin that needs another person, or want to try building a cabin of our own?
Camp NaNo is an off-November thing tied to NaNoWriMo. I suck at November, so I usually try to do these, as it's more likely I can achieve word counts (no minimum - they say 50,000, but you get to pick whatever (I did 20,000 last July, and I'm going for an absolutely ridiculous 80,000 this April)). Cabins are like mini-cheerleading gangs (or can be - mine was lousy last year (I did random assignment).
I know what you mean about November - it's never really a good time for me to be tackling this kind of thing either. I've tried a time or two, but never actually got there.
This looks interesting! I'm not sure if I should try, or if I'd just frustrate myself more by failing ...
I'm dithering about it. I think I'm finished with regular NaNo. Last year I just didn't have fun with it at all. The camp concept suits me better because it's flexible. But I just don't know.
I've had the same troubles as you with cabins. If there are six other people in the cabin then three of them will post something, and then after a week it'll be silence.
Yes, exactly! I sign up for NaNo every year but I've only ever made it once. It's just a bad time of year for me.
My cabin last year was exactly like that! I want something where people are excited! I need help getting over the hump with my story and I love enthusiasm. :D
SOOOOO.... are you going to play? Want to join our cabin? It's a third two thirds! of the way full! :D
Still undecided. Probably won't decide until the last minute, but I expect
the answer will be no. Perhaps the next session. The amount of Not Fun With
It that was had in November is still disturbing me a bit. I've done NaNo
for ten years, won maybe half of them, but this was the first time I wasn't
enjoying it even a little bit.
I would be maybe up for it but I don't know how good I'd be at providing sustained cheer in a cabin, since I would also likely collapse and completely drop out by week two. ^_^
MAYBE. I just put my April schedule in a spreadsheet and I'll have two whole hours of free time a day! I CAN DO THIS! Anyway if you get a cabin together I'll sign up with something very low but I cannot be counted on not to flake.
There's a camp NaNo for April? I'd love to participate (recently got a story idea: a Duggar-daughter with the serial numbers filed off leaves the family to explore the world on her 18th birthday, subsequently wins the lotto, and buys an RV to take the ultimate multi-year-long US road trip). I obviously don't have a cabin (and with Easter being April 5, will be quite busy already in the first few days) but would love to join one!
\o/ YAYYYYYYYY!!! Yes, come playyyyy! It's just an overall total (10,000 is the minumum they'll let you sign up with) and you can take it easy the first few days if you need to! Let me know what your username is and I'll invite you!
Are you doing Camp Nano for July? I created a cabin for all of us. I think you're the only person we don't have yet. You have to create your novel and then I can invite you in. :)
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE. Come play with us! It's going to be SO FUN. There are two of us writing J2 big bangs (mine's Wincestiel and clavally's is Wincest and Destiel, sort of, and maybe self-cest? I dunno, it's all over the place, BUT IN AN AWESOME WAY). So you should come play, definitely!
IT IS THE BEST! Especially the cabin we're building here, which is trying to come up with a flaily dinosaur name (Flailosaurus Rex? Flailociraptor?). COME JOIN US. WE HAVE COOKIES FLAILY DINOSAURS! Camp NaNoWriMo! JOIN THE DARK SIDE, BB!

OR MAYBE. Maybe our cheering will get you excited and you'll get some ridiculous word count you weren't even expecting. Huh? Huh?! YOU CAN DO IT.
