SGA is taking over my life.
I'm reading fic, a lot of it (including the bad stuff, which just isn't like me), and watching several eps a night (except tonight because there was too much fic) and only nominally noodling with the drum corps fic that's likely to derail my serious attempts at finishing my damn Jared/Colin fic.
So the first amazing thing I read, I recced, and then I read something pretty darn good which I didn't even comment on (which is also not like me, but I'm tired - my brain is not functioning at 100%). And now, I've done what I always do when a fandom threatens to overwhelm me: found a couple of authors whose stuff I adore and read everything they've ever written. I am not done reading everything yet (not to mention I've got all the Ronon/Radek fics from Wraithbait cued up to read on the shuttle to work tomorrow). So, when I am done (and I still have to read through a couple of other authors that I've had recced to me before), I'm hoping to put up a decent recs page. I think at least a few people on my flist are in SGA; hopefully that won't be a hardship for the rest of you.
Is there anyone out there who has real live experience with drum corps? I know people who did it, including a guy who wrote drills and another who was a drum major, though I'm not close enough to either of them to email for advice. I did marching band myself, but trust me when I say that comparing high school marching band and drum and bugle corps is a little like comparing peewee baseball and the World Series. (Sorry for the baseball metaphor - I just wanted to use the word peewee.) It's really more like apples and oranges. Drum corps is a thing of it's own.
It's late, I'm tired. I just want to put something up because I don't post often enough and I miss you all.
gayalithiel, when are you coming to Philly again? Also, I'm home in another week and a half - I don't suppose we could manage another 'pop by for pizza on my drive through town', could we? And what the hell, flooding? I saw
knitting_hobbit's post.

I have no experience with drum corps, but stand ever ready for beta duty in regards to your fic.

I have no idea what I wanted to say there... hrm.
Much thanks, I love a picky grammar beta, and I will probably send this first chapter your way as soon as I finish it up (don't hold your breath, it is quite likely to be a month or more, as I'm not really spending much time on it). And again - thank you for the offer, I REALLY appreciate it.

Yes, yes, yes! If I can get an idea of what day I will be sure not to arrange a violin lesson on that day (right now they're on Mondays but that may change when school starts).
Yes, violin! I am so psyched. And silly. But my mom loves it too, since I'm using Grandma's 100+ year old violin, and that counts for lots. Have you read how all that came about? If not, I shall have to tell you!
I'll be in Philly 9/20 (late) to 9/23 (flight at noon). Not long but better than nothing. Lauren AND Robert in one trip! Wheeeeee!

Yay for violin! And yes, I've been following your fantasy island and all the stuff with the violin, I just haven't been commenting too much. Too much to read and not enough time is how the flist shakes down these days...
