Deja vu and headaches.

I just had a massive deja vu; it was this SGA fall meme over on LJ. There's a bit of fic, and then a pic of action figures with a quote, and between that and the response to it, it was SO sharp. I remembered it exactly - so much so I checked to see if it was perhaps the old meme they were referencing, but no. And I remembered the John Hannah thing that was on the TV and the red blanket I'm sitting under (which we just pulled out for Marina last night, so it's not like the red blanket is something that's normally around for me to sit under). So clear, seriously, it was bizarre.
Also, I have a headache I can't get away from. I've tried Advil, stretching, lots of water, and it just won't budge. I don't have headaches like this; dehydration ones are taken care of with lots of water and any other ones I have (eyeball headaches, tension headaches, or slight caffeine withdrawal headaches) are all handled with an Advil or two (and sometimes stretching my neck). I've had four Advil and four glasses of water now, and my head's still pounding. :(
On the other hand, it is a glorious 50° outside. It can stay like this until next spring, please.

(Have you tried breathing in steam, maybe with a little bit of eucalyptus leaves boiled in the water? The change in the weather sometimes makes my sinuses act up in non-nose ways, which results in a headache even though I'm not congested. Encouraging the nose to work so I can blow it has helped.)

As the sufferer of many Fall & Spring headaches, I second your reader who talked about sinuses possibly contributing to a headache that pain pills won't touch. If her remedy wasn't effective--although it should be--try a decongestant along with your pain meds next time. The hot/cold compresses are also good ideas.
More headaches in the Spring/Fall are often due to more allergens floating round for your sinuses to react to, plus leaf-mold & other mold-type allergens. You might also want to get on an all-day allergy med like zyrtec.
(a second cause of headaches that pain pills won't do much for: sensitivity to atmospheric pressure changes. If your doesn't-respond-to-pain-meds headaches often come just before or just after storms, that might be the cause. there's not a lot you can do for these buggers, just suffer through them...)
