How I feel about this character: I LOVE KEVIN. So so so much. And he had it really rough. Everyone tossed him around, and while Dean can say Kevin was like family, I don't think he was, not at all. Dean was lying to himself if he thought so. He would NEVER have dismissed Kevin's mom without a thorough search if that was actually the case. I think Crowley was spot on about the Winchesters in Kevin's case (that they use people to their own ends - and Zachariah was right about them too, much as we all go "yeah, right" in the fandom. I loved that bit - when the show points up how fucked up they are, we all go, well, obviously - but that's why we love them!). And I'd love to say Sam was different (you'll see why in a sec), but I don't think he was. Those Winchesters really are too wrapped up in each other to treat anyone else well. (And I love them for this, don't get me wrong! But Kevin's tragedy was the result of that crazy co-dependency and I wish it hadn't happened.)
All the people I ship romantically with this character: I do enjoy Sam/Kevin, because I have a teaching kink, and I love the idea of Sam being kind to Kevin, and them being geeks together. Uh. I don't know who else? I would love to actually ship Charlie/Kevin, again with a teaching thing, where Charlie's like, okay, I know you're a dude, but you're young and pretty and I'm just going to pretend you're a lady. You'll like it, I promise! No Dean/Kevin, though, uh-uh. Dean/Kevin's mom, hell yes, but no Dean/Kevin. That makes it too creepy for me. I do enjoy Crowley/Kevin a little bit - more from a "hee hee, Crowley's a dirty old man" perspective than anything (I love Crowley's crushes, actually) and I wouldn't actually want anything to happen between them. I liked him with Channing well enough; they were a cute high school couple.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: I like it when Dean's proud of Kevin - he so clearly wants approval and for whatever reason, Dean is the one of them he imprinted on. I like Sam maybe taking Kevin under his wing a little, providing tenderness to offset Dean's authoritative "do this, you have a duty" bullshit. Which feeds into Sam/Kevin, but doesn't have to. I like the idea of Garth and Kevin being buddies of a sort, Garth trying to provide what companionship he could before he got turned. I love Kevin and his mom, they are both so wonderful and such a brilliant mom/kid dynamic (though not his original mom - not at all - and ew, I did not like her at all, thank god for Lauren Tom).
My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't think I have one? I love him, I feel like most of fandom loves him... I guess I'm harsh on Dean where Kevin is concerned, and considering how much people love Dean, that's probably unpopular. *shrug*
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Ha, well. That's obvious - that he NOT DIE. But also, jeez, that they had fucking GONE TO LOOK FOR HIS MOTHER. Because THAT'S WHAT FAMILIES DO, DEAN. >>>>>>>>>>>>>:(
no subject
..not that it was okay or anything, it was weird mostly! And horrible. AND YES, they should have gone after Linda, even just to know for sure! (Which would make Dean/Linda awkward, though I am SUPER INTRIGUED by the idea of Dean/Linda and I really want to know her thoughts on his Busty Asian Babes and would love to read the fic that'd address that. o_O ALSO, I would love a universe where Dean/Linda happens and also Sam/Jody and they both explore their MOMMY ISSUES a little more, for once. Lulz. I would go for it.)
Crowley's crushes are amazing. And the Winchesters totally use & destroy people. It's the worst/best. :(

When I found it, there were a couple more Sam/Jody recs (I found it on crack_impala over on LJ) but I just read one and... no. I can't rec it. Het sex can be so icky, I hate the words and the descriptors and ew. It makes me want to write Sam/Jody porn that isn't all shy and coy. Bleh.
So anyway. SAM/JODY. HELLS YES.
no subject
And it's interesting bc I'm straight and have only had het sex, but I just don't often read about it, or seek it out. Maybe I just don't want to hear about it, or maybe it's just the descriptions make me crazy. :P Either way, I'm quite happy with het.
no subject
I don't mind het. I've had het sex (not particularly inspiring het sex, but whatev), and I've read a fair amount of mainstream het, but these days, the sex just leaves me cold. It's usually written really horribly - just awkward and with terrible sex words (omg, fucking "mound" just NO). The het I enjoy in fanfic is usually written by slashers or femslashers because I like the style of their sex writing better than full-on het writers.
no subject
I hadn't considered that slash or femslashers would do it better!

And you're totally right about how poorly Kevin was treated. That poor kid was just used up and thrown away. And he's such great character. I can totally see him and Sam. I love to see the as good friends, but I can ship it too.
HOW COULD THEY NOT GO FIND HIS MOM?
Hello, parent issues?
no subject
Yeah, poor Kevin. He got such the short end of the stick, and BOTH the Winchesters are to blame for that one.

How I feel about this character: I LOVE Ronon. He is one of my favorite characters in SGA, and not just because he's on Sheppard's team. I feel like the show shorted him a
littlelot, but that was weirdly okay with me, because it meant the fans could fill in the blanks ourselves without tripping over canon too much, and there are many, MANY Ronon characterizations I love out there. I love Ronon's dreads, but the wig in Season 5 was just horrendous. They had the perfect excuse to cut them off - why didn't they? Sure it's a big switch, but guess what? WE CAN GET USED TO NEW THINGS! Arg, the wig was SO BAD.All the people I ship romantically with this character: Everyone ever. I love early seasons Ronon/Teyla, I love Ronon/John, I even enjoy Ronon/McKay, though more in a snarky friendship way than in a romantic way. I like him with Keller a lot (I cannot tell you how much I wish that was the way the show had gone) and I like him with Amelia, too.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: I love him as part of the team. Team is my favorite. I enjoy his relationship with Woolsey in season 5. I like him with Zelenka, too, as well as Jeannie (his scenes with Jeannie are some of my favorite) and really, just about everyone he interacts with (and characters he doesn't! I love Atlantis because a closed society means everyone interacts with each other, even if they don't show most of that on camera most of the time). The only thing I don't really get from him is a Ronon/Atlantis vibe. Teyla, John, Rodney - they all have relationships with Atlantis. I don't feel like Ronon does. I'd love for someone to write that fic, though, when he figures out how he relates to the city. ETA: JEEZ! How could I forget my favorite rarepair? I love Ronon/Zelenka!!!!
My unpopular opinion about this character: I love him playing the brute. It's clear (I think, anyway) that he's NOT a brute, and that he is using it to size people up and/or get out of things he doesn't want to do. I appreciate how cunning that is, though the fact that people continually fall for it is kinda hilarious and also depressing.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: More backstory, more history, richer characterization. Ronon/Jennifer.
no subject
I STILL haven't watched S5, but I think TPTB not letting him cut his dreds was yet another example of racism at its finest.
I think Ronon was terribly brutalized by his seven years as a Runner, and I think he uses that self as a mask, but underneath that, the guy we saw on Sateda, engaged to the nice doctor, the capable military professional, is not a brute. And since Sateda seems to have a planetary militia rather than a standing army, Ronon clearly had a day job, and in my head it is something FAAAAAAAAAABULOUSLY intellectual.
I love Ronon/Keller and Ronon/John [my rarepairing is Ronon/Daniel and why is there not more of that???] My OTP is of course, Ronon and Rule 63 Rodney, a story
no subject
Yeah, my favorite Ronon occupations are poet and architect. I can't remember where I saw them, but they were brilliant.
Ooooooooooooooooooooh! :D :D :D That is a fantastic premise for a story - I can't wait to see what you come up with!

How I feel about this character: Charlie is my faaaaaaaaaaaaavorite. I love her SO MUCH. She's such a smart character - not just her as a character but the writer/director/showrunner/whoever that came up with her as a recurring female character that the fans would love. She's a fantastic character that we can expect to see her for a long time to come, and I just love that about her. It's the lesbian thing, honestly. By basically making her a little sister, and absolutely, completely, and utterly immune from possible romantic entanglements with the Winchesters, even the shippers can love her.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Dorothy, the fairy lady, Jo (I don't know how people came up with this idea, but I support it whole-heartedly). I outlined a little fic I wouldn't mind seeing for her and Kevin up there a few comments.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: DEAN & CHARLIEEEEEEEEEEEE. I love their dynamic, so much. It makes me a little sad, though, because you know. Well. It's like my cats. Everyone just LOOOOOVES Fatty, and me and my wife are just boggled by this, because clearly Jeeves is the best cat. But no one seems to appreciate him! And I feel that way with the Winchesters. Like, (for me, obviously) Sam is the best Winchester! But everyone always loves Dean. And it always just makes me really sad. :( But anyway, I do love Dean and Charlie's dynamic, so much. And now (weirdly), this makes me want to write Sam and Jody because she actually seems to like him best. Also, I really want to see Charlie and Cas hang out because I totally think they would be BFFs.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I'm not sure it's unpopular, but I really think the reason she's so popular with fandom is because she's not a threat to the boys' shipping possibilities.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I want her to move into the bunker and hunt with the Winchesters! (I kind of want everyone to move into the bunker and hunt with the Winchesters. I want a big old hunter clubhouse with Dean and Sam and Cas and Kevin (not dead lalala) and Charlie and Garth and Krissy and her team and Jody and Donna and... EVERYONE.)
no subject
I wish she was in the bunker (along with everyone else - those are prob my fav fics). She's just so awesome on her own. And you're probably right that her being off the market for shipping just makes her so easy to like, which is rather unfortunate. :| SPN fandom is so hard on its ladies. :|
Ha. So I asked you to write about Charlie, bc she's so great, and then omens asked me to write about Charlie, bc I didn't ask HER, so there's a lot of Charlie love here.
I have never encountered Jo/Charlie, but that's interesting? I can see them getting along. I'll have to check it out!
no subject
And yes, SPN IS hard on its ladies.
Jo/Charlie was one of the pairings I could write for the femslash exchange, and I did sign up for it, though I didn't get matched on it. Most of the femslash pairings were women that had never met in canon, and a lot of them has one character dead and one character living so it was a challenge for sure!

I really enjoyed your thoughts because I like seeing everyone's theories.

How I feel about this character: I love Cougar! I love most of the Losers a ridiculous amount, but Cougar was basically made to hit every one of my kinks. The long hair, the man-of-few-words thing, the hat, the not-overly-muscular build. Love him. Love love love.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Mostly Jensen and variations with Jensen in them, like Jensen/Cougar/Pooch, Jensen/Cougar/Pooch/Jolene, and Jensen/Cougar/Aisha.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Pooch especially, but also Roque. Aisha, too. Basically I like everyone with Cougar, romantically if Jensen can be involved.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I honestly don't know that there *is* an unpopular opinion about Cougar. I can't think of anything.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: [SPOILERS FOR THE COMICS] I wish he didn't die.

Along with lots of other folks, I like the mental and physical contrast with Jensen, with the puzzle on how they could click and what makes it work for them. That can be endlessly varied for different writers.
Fandom tends to exaggerate all the differences pretty far, to the point that it startled me to see that iconic shot in the movie where the whole team is walking together. Cougar and Aisha are not tiny people, they're just normal when you look at the others, who probably have to duck through doorways!
no subject
Yeah, I forget that 5'8" is a normal (or even slightly tall!) height because in my main fandom, the main actors are 6'5" and 6'1". So yeah. They sort of dwarf EVERYONE.

How I feel about this character: Looooooooooooooooooooooove. I just love Lucy Liu in general, but I love how she really cares for Sherlock but also doesn't take his shit. LOVE.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Uh. I don't know, honestly. Anyone but Sherlock. I'm not hugely a fan of her and Mycroft, but it's not horrible.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Joan&Sherlock FOREVER.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Oh, boy. Um. No clue, honestly. Maybe that I like Joan@Sherlock better than Joan/Sherlock?
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Eep, I have no idea! I love everything I know about so far, and I can't think of anything I was really missing in my Joan characterization...
