So, many many years ago, I wrote a Supernatural ficlet when I had only seen a single season. I was prompted with "Radio" and well, of course I wrote Sam singing along to pop music while Dean was sleeping. So, imagine my surprise when rabidly watching all the following seasons, that Sam and Dean do actually sing in the car, and also Sam listens to non-hair metal music. I gloated gleefully in each of those moments.

Right now I am making my posts for the night and then I'm going to settle in with one episode of SPN - 6.15, The French Mistake, which I hear is amazing. I saw about 2.3698 seconds of it in the previews of the last ep and decided to save it for tonight (as it was after midnight last night and I was already going on 36 hours without sleep). Also, a fic bunny with teeth the size of dracula tore into me, so I'm expecting to finish the ep, turn off the iPad, and write my third SPN fic ever.

Oh, right. I wrote my second SPN fic as a SPN/Losers crossover for elliemuraski's fandom_stocking. Femslash, and I'm really rather proud of it. I like the other two things I wrote too (and the Arrow/The Voice not!fic I ruminated on for celli), so here's links to those.

I got several lovely graphics for good wishes and IOUs (man people are clever!) as well as just general happiness and recs (multifandom vids and Leverage OT3) and a link to Steve/Tony/Pepper at the AO3 and then...

I got a gorgeous podfic cover for Fill All My Bones with Aches by somehowunbroken, a lovely piece that really captures the mood of that fic and is so so so perfect.

I have no idea how I got so lucky, but I got this amazing Clint&Natasha buddy art from astridv - look at that! It's amazing! Just another day at the office, hahaha, it's so perfect!

Then there's this amazing Cougar/Jensen artwork by the lovely tarlanx, with Cougar's gun and the coloring and the brushstrokes and gaaaaaaah! It's a shared gift with amaresu, and I'm pretty sure we're both pretty much floored.

IDRIS ELBA GIFS. From maharet83. I mean, seriously. SERIOUSLY. That man is more good looking than any two hundred people. And with the licking his lips. These are amazing, and perfect, and I absolutely did *not* drool on my keyboard, nosiree.

This lovely Hardison/Lucille fic, Frost, by jenna_thorn, is just such a lovely and sweet and perfect depiction of Hardison and his van, with a lovely Eliot thrown in for good measure.

merryghoul wrote a delightful little Leverage/Top Chef crossover ficlet that stars Tara and Sophie! Top Chef Quickfire. This is the most perfect quickfire in all of history, because they have a history and it all comes out in two teenie weenie amazing ficlets.

And if that wasn't amazing enough, anonymous_sibyl made me JESSICA SORROW FIC. I had to scrape my chin off the floor. And it's perfectly voiced - it comes right out of the Nightside, and the ending (Suzie) will make your heart clench. The Teddy Bears' Graveyard. Gorgeous.

Oh, but that's not all! moonlettuce wrote me an amazing Phil/Clint five things fic! It's heartwrenching and heartwarming and just amazing, and man, I am just over the moon, what can I say. A Laundry List of Trouble, awesome.

As if the Idris gifs weren't enough, the lovely maharet83 made me eight gooooooooooooooooorgeous Leverage icons that I cannot tell you how much I love. SO MUCH. I would've used one for this post, but...

clavally made me five Supernatural icons starring Castiel and Sam's hair. I can't even... I just. *cries*

And on that note, I've done all the work, read the dwircle, put my Fandom Snowflake Day 9 on hold, and am going to settle in with my one ep of SPN tonight. There may or may not (likely not) be fic tomorrow.

ETA: And that was the biggest build-up to nothing. It won't play on the iPad. I can get it to play on my computer, but there's no sound. Apparently someone doesn't want me to watch this.

I did get to see it! Rebooted the iPad and watched it. And searched AO3 for the fic I was going to write, sure there would be a bazillion of them (much like the lemon chicken index), but there were only a couple. And one was close-ish to what I was going to do, but not quite. So I may actually write the fic. We shall see.

I loved it - I may watch it again tomorrow for shits and giggles - but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It was good, I liked the parodies of Jensen and Jared and Misha, and probably Bob and Kripke and others, but that was what made it just OTT enough to not quite give me what I was hoping for. I actually feel more like rewriting the ep, now, than doing the fic I was thinking about.

Also, the fic I found, the one that was vaguely close-ish to what I wanted to write, was kind of mediocre-to-awful. I was hoping for the perfect fic so I wouldn't have to write it. *sigh*

Yeah, the episode has its faults, but it's still lots of fun. :p If you go back far enough on Misha's twitter, you'll see he actually tweeted those things from the episode, which just cracks me up.

I think they've said during con panels that the writers were including a lot of inside jokes about the industry and people's perception of things.

Oh, Misha and twitter, it cracked me the fuck up - I wondered if he was actually tweeting. :D

I got it, I mean - I know what they were going for and I think they achieved it - it's just not what I wanted. There were some things, the sets especially, Jensen's trailer and Jared's house, that I think were hilarious, and I got most of the in-jokes, I think. It was just that the best eps of SPN, the ones that are laugh-til-you-choke funny, almost always also have a whole lot of heart, and I feel like that was sorely lacking from this one. There's usually a pathos for the people who get dragged into something they weren't expecting, and the show totally fell down on that front. I would have gone with the Kripke bit - I think it was funny and also a hat tip to author-as-god - but the random shooting of the stage hands and things seemed cruel and unnecessary. And there wasn't any resolution or feeling for the completely innocent people who got killed. The joke about Misha's death making, what was magazine was it?, that was too much for me - or at least, I would have liked at least a moment of sincere grief somewhere (Gen's wrecked makeup aside - that was also OTT for me). Or surprise or fear - the universe wasn't human enough, at least for me.

And wow, that... was surprising. But hey. Meta at 2am and WHY THE FUCK AM I UP UNTIL 2am again? AAAAAAAAAAARG.

ETA: And all that is not to say that I didn't love the ep! I did! I laughed a lot, and loud enough for my neighbor to bang the wall. I just wanted more. Demanding fan is demanding.

So anyway, my fic would be exactly that, it'd be Jensen and Jared in Supernatural-world, and then through coming back and dealing with everything. It's be horribly angsty and whatnot. There's got to be a good fic like that somewhere. Right?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I like it for the crack, but I'd also love something that would take it seriously. It seems like there should be fic like that somewhere. I know there's some community for SPN that works like sgastoryfinders, but I'm not entirely sure what it is. I know I stumbled upon it somehow on lj. I'll have to dig around later and see if I can find it and then post a request for those fics.

I... am still awake. At 3:23am. Because I found the fic I was looking for, but not really? Arg. It's good though - and it has more of the sensibility I was going for. But it's anti-Genevieve and both this one and the last were 'shippy, and while I'm not against that, it's not what I want as the focus, and also, it's a freaking WIP, wtaf, and arg.

Also, I may be the only person in the world who just wants people to grieve about Misha's death and not actually bring Misha back to life/avoid his death in the first place. Apparently I am a bad person.

Hmmm, after we were talking about it, it occurred to me that I did read one of those fics, but it was Dean/Misha, so still not what you're looking for. I think you'll end up having to write it.

On a side note, you have another icon coming, but I have to wait until you finish season 6. At least, if I can find a good screen cap of what I want, you will.

I don't have any excuse for being up now, either. I just generally enjoy being up into the early hours of morning rather than going to bed late at night. I hope you can get some sleep!

Yeah, the one I read that was serviceable was Dean/Misha (the Misha POV on the Winchesters was absolutely brilliant) but the flip side (the part that was a WIP) felt... wrong. I think because it almost immediately went to a super-angsty J2-feeling-place and that was just not what I wanted from those two being thrown into Winchester-land. I mean, come on, really? I'm re-watching tonight, I want to make a few notes on things, and then I may actually have to write it, sigh. We'll see. It's going to take a while, this one, so I'm going to have to settle in.

OMG will have to get through S6! This ep has slowed me down a bit, but tonight it's just lazing in bed with SPN, taking notes on that ep and then on to the rest (kinda excited to see the boys in cowboy gear, ngl). Probably won't finish until next week, though.

If I didn't have to work in the morning, I'd always be up until the wee hours - I really prefer that time of night - but getting up at 7:30 after going to bed at 3:30 suuuuuuuuuucks.

You know, sometimes I wish I'd been in the fandom from the start because I'm really curious what the RPFers reaction was when they found out Misha's wife, literally, wrote the book on how to physically and emotionally navigate having a short or long-term threesome based on her personal experience with him and that they had long-term threesomes that were both m/f/f and f/m/m.

Like, did they think they'd been Kripked by real life? lol

Ahahaha, I remember that happening, I wasn't in the fandom at all but it showed up all over my flist. How fucking cool, right? :D :D :D One of the many reasons I like Misha.
