5 Ingredient Fics

So remember when I asked for ingredient lists?

I actually wrote them all. Seriously, all of them. Except auburn's because hers was just a beautiful transliteration of epic fic to recipe, one too perfect for a tiny little fic, so I'm going to reproduce it here for you all to appreciate.

2 cups of world building
1 cup of character development
1/2 cup of creamed romance
1/4 cup angst
1 plot* (1 mcguffin may be substituted)

Sift dry ingredients for inconsistencies and then mix together in a large format with plot, blend, then add romance and angst (to taste). Write vigorously then allow to rise until first draft is finished, then have beta punch it down. Shape story into desired form and allow to rise again before posting.

* Some plots may be larger than others and require additional world building to achieve proper consistency.

Serve with fan art and fan mix as side dishes.

Also, I handed out a few ingredient lists, and wolfshark wrote What Rodney Would Do for a crazy list including raspberries, cake, piercings, taffeta, sunglasses.


fyrefly101 gave me chili, soy sauce, bananas, milk, eggs, and I wrote her a little ficlet about Jade from Vampire Greg.

elmyraemilie gave me Chekov, pirates, vodka, tomatoes, obsession, and I wrote her a little Chekov/McCoy ficlet. (You can blame gblvr for the pairing… it was the first thing I thought of.)

beachlass gave me Jane Austen novels, John's pants, Wraith, chocolate, golf and I wrote her Little Details, an angsty ficlet about John packing up Elizabeth's stuff.

gblvr gave me:
1 part Lorne
1 part Zelenka
2 parts out of touch with reality bosses
1 part alcohol
1 part stress relief

And I wrote her My Husband's Keeper, a bit of Lorne/Zelenka curtainfic, with additional porn.

twistedchick gave me history, cream, sunset, hiking, plaster and I wrote her a tiny bit of Viggo/Orli UST.

spillingvelvet gave me team, Lorne, wacky costumes, time travel, the sun and I wrote her Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder, a team Lorne time travel fic.

meansgirl gave me:
1 c awkwardness
3/4 c desperation
2 tbsp off-world shenanigans
a dash of certain doom
freaky alien customs, to taste

And I wrote her a dialogue only John/Rodney not-quite-drabble

facetofcathy gave me John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, sunshine, not due back for hours, jumper, and I wrote her a bit of John and Rodney vacation time.

auburn, I may write your fic someday, but since Impromptu has taken me three years so far, I think you're going to be waiting a while.

P.S. I started writing up this entry less than a week after I posted the Five Ingredient Fic requests. spillingvelvet's just took this long to write. I like it, and I'm doggedly finishing my WIPs this year, so this is the first one off my plate. I'll post the other fics to the AO3 tomorrow (gblvr and beachlass's are already there). <3

I'd forgotten that! It's kind of a cute, except that it fails as a recipe, unless of course it's a cookie dough one, in which case it tastes better raw.

Anyway, given my taste (hee) for epics, when you get Impromptu finished, I'll just consider it a little bit for me.

Ahaha, I like it as a recipe! I think it's brilliant.

Definitely, Impromptu is for you! And about a million other people that have encouraged me on the way. One of my big writing goals for the year is to finish the damn thing, finally.
