I am officially a scrooge.

I spent Christmas day racing to the bathroom from my bed. I missed seeing one of my sisters and her kids, and I ached everywhere. I also missed out on sledding and a Christmas night movie with one of my other sisters.

I haven't had the flu in years. This SUCKED. Also - everything smelled sulphur-y. Anybody know what that's about? Burping up rotten egg smell is not my ideal way to spend a Christmas.

In a non-scrooge moment, I'll do the drabble game: I wrote two [livejournal.com profile] yuletide stories and one [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa story, and I'll give you a drabble of your choice for any of them you can guess. (I have a hard time believing anyone will know or care, but. You know, whatever.)

Since [livejournal.com profile] yuletide is so big this year (over 2400 stories), I'll give you one huge hint. The two stories are both in fandoms I've written before (the list is on the first post here). (Comments screened.)

And, just because this holiday hasn't been entirely horrible, let me tell you a little bit about Christmas eve dinner. My brother-in-law dug a trench through the three feet of snow to the back yard so he could grill our dinner. Yes. Three feet of snow, people.

*is speechless*

Yeah, I totally wrote that (in about an hour and a half right before uploads closed). Wow. What tipped you off?

So, you get a drabble - what would you like, m'dear?

And thanks - I've been searching flu symptoms and whatnot, and it was a short short bug - I am feeling 90% better today.

Thanks sweetie. It's been a rough one this year. <3

OMG. That's horrible; so sorry your holiday was ruined. I got the flu last year and honest-to-God, felt near-death. This year? For the first time? I got a flu shot because of that.

Luckily this was a real short bug - 24 hours, almost exactly. I'm not likely to get a flu shot because of this. It was hellish, definitely, but for such a short period, I can deal.

Just sucks that I missed the little family time I'm going to get. :(

Hope your holiday was better than mine!

You poor thing! I think it doesn't count as scrooge if you are deathly ill.

I wonder if it was food poisoning? The symptoms sound right, and I've been surprised at how quickly I get over it. One of the symptoms of influenza is that it sticks around, so you were way lucky.

Hm, generally food poisoning is supposed to make you sick for days, like 10 days, according to my microbiologist friend. (At least, that's what happened to her - and she took in the stuff to her lab, identified the contaminant, and reported the restaurant to the health department! She was out of work for two weeks, throwing up violently for at least a week.) I don't know, honestly, because I don't ever go to the doctor for bugs like this - I just assume they'll pass when they pass (I've never had a stomach bug last longer than three days).

It was passed on from nephew to nephew to brother-in-law to sister to other sister to mom to me, so I'm fairly certain it was some kind of bug, flu or otherwise. I'm just thankful it was only 24 hours, because man, it was awful (and also I never get sick, so I am a horrible sick person to be around when it finally catches up to me).

I hope your holiday was better than mine!

That's funny, my guy was in a bio lab in grad school and did the same thing. It was a Bad Eclair. He tried to call the health dept. but they didn't answer. Talked to the bakery and they promised to be more careful. But we never ate there again!

God, no! I would never. We had a Taco Bell in a town I lived in that failed every third or fourth health inspection. Why anyone ever ate there, I will never know.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I was sick enough to be miserable but not quite sick enough to excuse myself from family gatherings, so I wasn't happy but I did get to see people.

Oh, I don't know which would be worse... I guess for me I'd rather have been okay enough to see my family, but I like my family... and I don't have to do extended family.

I hope you're feeling better now?
