Oct 16: Threw out yesterday's story and began a new one, which is going much better. 600 words.

D: I'm always sad to hear something didn't work out. But good to hear the new story is working much better, here's to a better way forward!

Eh, I still have the draft if I ever feel differently about it. But better to spend my time on something that makes me happy, than on something that doesn't!

Day 15: 800 words! I don't normally get any words on Sunday or Monday, but I was waiting for something to finish in the oven so I grabbed a notebook and started writing out ideas (outlined) for my Fandom Trumps Hate story.

Day 16: Surprised to get another 800 words today! Got a good start on FTH now.

On Day 17, I wrote 670 words of outline during my lunch break. (And this time, I mean actual outline--like ideas in a sequence to explain where the whole story is going.)

Day 17: Did not write, but I went through the Yuletide tagset and made a longlist of fandoms to request/offer, so I'm counting that. Wow, there's so much I'm interested in this year!

Oct 17th - 913 words. A triple drabble, triple and a half, and some work on 2 fics. I've started editing the spook_me fic, and I'm expanding the challenge fic from a few days ago because it felt unfinished.

Day 17: I FINISHED THE !@#$ SCREENPLAY (TV pilot thing), next up is getting feedback from the instructor. I expect RED INK ALL OVER but that's a problem for future!me, right now I just want to collapse lol.

I still have to work on the !@#$ string quartet tonight, and then tomorrow I guess I can go back to linguistics space opera lolsob.

I'm loving the quartet, actually! I've really mostly composed for piano or orchestra/larger ensembles. String quartet is a really fun challenge because all the lines are so exposed! I am learning a TON, but also, learning curve, haha. I played viola as a student, so at least I'm generally familiar with string techniques. :) My HS senior project was a four-movement orchestral suite and the fact that the engraving software broke down (Finale ca. the late 1990s) weirdly helped in that besides soprano/alto/bass clefs, I was forced to learn to read/write French horn in F and Bb clarinet/trumpet in Bb lol. I still hate movable C (I KNOW, as a violist!!) and I never picked up harmonica, guitar, or lute tablature. (I played classical guitar briefly but that doesn't use tab!!!) But you know, I'm a hobbyist so this isn't mission-critical. :p

That said, my God, modern Sibelius is SO MUCH BETTER than late 1990s Finale. I imagine modern Finale is also much better too. :p

Day 17: I had free time today! So I typed up the handwritten notes I made over the weekend and also finished that story off, for a total of ~3k words. :)
