Day 3: What's a favorite, or at least memorable fandom meeting/interaction that you've had?

I have a lot of really great fandom meetings in my past. I think the very first one was my Buffy the Vampire slayer group. We all went out to California to hang out, it was a real blast. We stayed at Jenn's place and later Jo and I got together in London and just. There were a bunch of great people and I remember very little of it distinctly now (it's been 26 years holy shit), but I absolutely remember how right it felt.

I will say that being in fandom is great - but being with fellow fans in fandom is so much better. We have what we call Squee Weekend once a year (but not 2020 or 2021) where about 20 of us fly to South Carolina and spend up to a week together having fun, watching movies and TV episodes. It's awesome. So yeah, I get it!

Awwww, that sounds amazing!!! I do love meeting up with fellow fans. It's always so great to be people who are excited about the same stuff!

I learned about LJ and fandom at WisCon

in 2006, and it was magic to have all the excellent infrastructure to just waltz right in to. While the initial WisCons were snobbish about media, that's been changing every year. Even when we were virtual last week, the magic elves made a four hour vid show

Ah, that's awesome! Back in the day I thought wistfully of going to WisCon but then I moved to Baltimore and my local con was con.txt which I still fucking adore (and is coming up here virtually soon!). But now that I'm back home, I should look into it again. Thanks for the link!
