Oh my GOSH you guys!!!!! I did so many of these back in the day! I have 151 things tagged meme on this journal (which includes my LJ that was ported over back when I came to Dreamwidth) so feel free to trawl that for ideas.

I love these a lot, so I'm gonna have to force myself to NOT put 150 of them in here. But, I can't help myself, so here are a bunch of my favorites! Feel free to play any of these in the comments, or steal them for your own journal or whatever.

What Kind of Dungeons and Dragons Character Would You Be? This is super long! It's over 100 questions! But fun, and as I play dnd I do think about this from time to time.

Neutral Good Human Sorcerer (7th Level)

Ability Scores:

Alignment: Neutral Good
A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race: Human
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class: Sorcerer
Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

WIP Meme (as I writer, there are LOTS of these, and I think we should resurrect all of them!)

I am currently neck deep in long WIPs, so here's seven sentences from the ones I've worked on in the last month:

Wen Ning gets laid (this is 'kinkmeme prompts' in the last one FYI)
Wen Ning's eyes are closed and Wei Wuxian looks up at the way his husband has plastered himself along Wen Ning's back, knowing Wen Ning is enjoying the warmth on his skin. They might have bathed, first, but Wei Wuxian wanted the warmth to come from him and Lan Zhan – and besides, the plums meant everything was just going to get messy anyway.

The way Wen Ning's mouth hangs open is adorable and Wei Wuxian presses himself closer, petting Wen Ning's thighs as he gently spreads them to make room for his shoulders. Wen Ning's head drops back, supported easily on Lan Zhan's shoulder, and Wei Wuxian is so happy that Wen Ning likes this, that he feels safe and comfortable enough to trust them, and that Lan Zhan is thoughtful and kind and giving, even of the things he guards most zealously.

Wen Ning makes another small "Ah!" when Wei Wuxian kisses his thigh, touching his tongue to the delicate skin there. It is cool and tastes like the forest and fresh water. Hm, he should have guessed that Wen Ning bathed in the river before coming to visit.
Murder/Mirror/Serial Killer AU (currently titled Murder!LWJ 2)
Before he can say anything, Lan Wangji says, "Your hair," frowning more severely. "Bring the brush."

Mo Xuanyu swallows. There is a reason he doesn't have a hairbrush, and while he normally would try to distract his mark with cute talk or overexcitement, he has a feeling that won't work with Lan Wangji, and a misstep here has more danger than usual. He goes back into the bathroom and opens the drawer, pulling out the brush he'd seen earlier.

It's wooden, with stiff bristles, and he shudders involuntarily. Gripping the handle firmly and taking a deep breath, he walks over to Lan Wangji and hands it to him.

"Sit," Lan Wangji says, and Mo Xuanyu does, using Lan Wangji's knees to maneuver himself into a comfortable position between his legs. He tries to control his hammering heartbeat. Likely the worst that will happen is a little hair pulling.
Protecting WWX from himself
He calls for a bath and set of robes for her and says he will speak to his brother. She bows and thanks him and he returns the gesture, saying, "It is I who must thank you."

The bath is a luxury that makes the anxiety that's been sitting in the pit of her stomach crawl up into her throat. She understands she must be presentable to be heard, but what of A-Ning? He is dirty and tired. He may be hurt. He may be…
Step Up AU
"How did you manage that?" Wen Qing asks, sounding vaguely impressed. She doesn't even try to take the bowl away.

Wei Ying shrugs. "His partner got injured. I was cleaning in the room where he held auditions, watched all these dancers fuck up a simple lift, and told him I could do that."

Wen Qing eyes him critically. "You don't dance."

"Pfft," Wei Ying says. "What do you know?"

OH! A fun random character meme that's good for getting your brain thinking creatively
1) Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

2) Ask your f-list to post questions in the comments. For example: "One, nine, and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?", "Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?", "Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?"

I wrote so many good stories for that meme! It's my absolute favorite one I've ever done - except maybe the one sentence fic meme, which was also pretty grate.

Okay, for the last one:


#4 and #13 are in the same place when the zombie apocalypse starts, and they decide to team up to give themselves a better chance of survival. How do you rate their odds, and why?

Oh my gosh, this is gonna be great. #4 is Adachi from Cherry Magic, who is anxious and nervous and generally timid, and #13 is Baymax, the healthcare/superhero robot from Big Hero 6.

I mean - Baymax is both a healthcare robot and a superhero, and he generally has an inclination to protect humans, so I think it'd be a pretty great deal for Adachi who would definitely have a hard time of it if the zombie apocalypse hit! I'm guessing that Baymax would also attract and adopt other stray humans as they came across them, so then it becomes a team/family, which helps everyone in the end.

That said, I never give more than a 25% survival chance to ANYONE in a zombie apocalypse, lol. :D

So, so, but.

The immediate thing that came into my head is that zombies are dead humans, right? So how much time would Baymax spend trying to diagnose zombies and cure them? I now have an image in my head of Baymax chasing after a zombie to try and give it a hug, because all of his other medical interventions have failed :DDDD

Also, I approve of your found family zombie vibe. I feel this leads to the ultimate crossover fic, into which you can incorporate all sorts of favourite characters that you think would work well (or badly) together but who currently exist in different canons.

Yes! This could be a crossover for the ages! But omg YES BAYMAX DIAGNOSING AND HUGGING THE ZOMBIES LOL.

Though - once he scanned them and there wasn't a pulse or respiration, he probably would just go "dead" (though the movement might confuse him) and concentrate on the humans with vital signs.

He'd also be the ultimate zombie detector - he could identify people who'd been bit and were covering it up with a simple scan! He'd definitely be scanning his family/troop/camp constantly.

He becomes both the best asset and the biggest threat. I am now thinking through my own character list and wondering who would have a 'disable Baymax' back up plan, in case they got bit and didn't want to get found out...

Also, I have decided I want my own Baymax for when the zombie apocalypse comes!

Yes, absolutely! There would definitely be people who would try to disable Baymax. And then there would be the people who realize Baymax is their most important asset and guard him accordingly (probably without Baymax realizing it). Oh, this is a genius idea, I knew it was gonna be good. :D

Oh my god, I have just realised. They would need to guard Baymax against both internal and external threats. Because, c'mon, if you were in one of the other troops of people floating around, and you realised that this troop had a Baymax, you would absolutely want to steal him for yourself. He has to increase your survival odds significantly. So this troop is not only trying to avoid zombies, but they also end up mistrusting every single other human being they meet. The humans would be living in a state of constant paranoid fear, and Baymax would just be like "Your adrenaline levels are elevated and you appear to be worried and unhappy. Diagnosis: stress. I recommend a hug"

The dytopia becomes even more dystopian! But with more hugs!

AHAHAHA YES!!!! MORE HUGS IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!

And now, assuming Parker from Leverage (and the whole Leverage crew) is in-universe, the heist to steal Baymax would be such an excellent spinoff. Or are they already in Baymax's camp and preventing him from being stolen? The Leverage team creating the security to keep people like themselves out OMGGGGGGG YES. Especially if they have access to other people with particularly useful abilities.

Oh, c'mon, you know some nefarious soul with access to more than their fair share of resources would make away with Baymax, and his original crew would all be incredibly sad because they didn't know how to get to him, and Nate just go "It's fine, they stole him, we'll just steal him back. What do you guys know how to do?". That is a freaking awesome idea, you are a genius.

And there's like, two soldiers, a superhero, ancient Chinese cultivators and Nate's like... huh. Okay. I can work with this.

ETA: I mean, if we're going with my character list, it's actually: a dragon, a tree-monster, a sniper, two geniuses, a Chinese cultivator, a Chinese idol, an alien who can turn into a cat, and alien who is super dextrous/can dodge bullets, two angels, a Macedonian soldier/general, and one normal Japanese guy.

So what happens if #1 and #15 find themselves flung through a dimensional portal to a genre that neither of them is able to make heads or tails of and they both have to survive so they can figure out how to get home?

Oh my GOD this is so good - #1 is Groot and #15 is Hephaestion (Alexander the Great's... whatever he was). And I think probably the genre they're both unfamiliar with would be straight up romance, or maybe a Lifetime movie? And they just have to play along until the end? Oooh, or horror - though Hephaestion being a war hero and Groot being... well, Groot, maybe horror wouldn't be all that bad for them. I think a Lifetime movie would be more horrifying - and more fun. :D

Ahahahahahahahahah okay, #7 is Rodney McKay (SGA) and #15 is Hephaestion (from Alexander the Great's... life...) and I think... this would be amusing as hell but might end up with Rodney murdered, if they could understand each other. Otherwise it would just be boring, probably?

Though - if they are somehow in Atlantis, would possibly work? They just skipped over language in SGA, and basically said everyone totally speaks modern day English! Though a lot of writers made it fanon that Atlantis had some kind of translator doohickey. Though understanding each other would probably make them less inclined to get along.

Still Hephaestion was someone fascinated by how thing work so he might have got on with Rodney.

That's a good point - if Rodney tried to like, make something work to warm them up, he might get Hephaestion's interest! He'd have to get through Rodney's automatic "everyone else is stupid" opening gambit.

I've only ever seen a couple of episodes of SA and have never been part of the fandom and yet I know so much about these characters through mates who do ship them. :D

I might do the WiP meme, I have a lot of them that will probably never get back to, unfortunately almost all of them have really non-descript file names that even I can't keep track of. 6. First fic/pairing you wrote for? (If no pairing, describe the plot)

Um. Well, I guess that would be technically me/Brendan Fraser, though it doesn't survive and it was platonic. I wrote some Spuffy but never posted it anywhere, so it's been lost to the vagaries of the internet. The first one I ever posted was Alexander/Hephaistion from the 2004 movie, back in December of 2004. Whew. That's... mmmm hm.

11. Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?

Welp, I guess it's full on necrophilia, which was written for a friend. It was easier than I thought it would be, I guess? Once I understood the motivations, it just clicked and actually came together fairly quickly. Weirdly, I am currently writing necrophilia again, though this is more like, you know, undead fic, like, zombie/vampire/other conscious undead fic. But it involves interesting thoughts about how bodies work when they're not technically alive.

12. A fic you wish you had written better, and why?

I mean, I guess I always want all of my fics to be better. I'll say Angelface though, because I was in the process of literally rewriting the entire thing. It was just too rushed - I had so much worldbuilding, but then the deadline snuck up and the pace, which was already pretty fast, just ran to the end, like light speed. I really just want to expand the end, and the worldbuilding, and make it the story it could've been.

Edit: Also, actually, the only fanwork I can do is fanmixes and attempts at cover art, but if you give me five ingredients, at least one of which a fandom or character or ship, I could maybe see if I can make that work in song form.

Okay - Wang Yibo and Toothless are both in love with Groot. This makes my brain hurt. I kinda think they can make it work emotionally, though the inter-species stuff, if we're talking romantic/carnal love might get.... tricky.

I love making fanmixes! I wish it was more of a thing in fandom; I usually watch the results of my labor plummet into the uncaring void, and I cherish! the rare occasion someone deigns to click the kudos button. But what can you do! It's how I express my Emotions about the canon.

And oh gosh, that is a lovely list (hehe, see what I did there?) but I think Losers was too long ago to revisit the feels and the canon and things to find good songs for it. But the idea is cool; I might hit you up again if I need inspiration. :-D

Ah, bummer. I understand this feel - podfic is similar in that it's a very underappreciated medium. I'm sorry to hear fanmixes are the same. I'm glad you enjoy them enough to keep doing it though!

Bummer about the Losers. I hear that, I haven't really been in it in years either, I just happened to remember that you were into that one at one point off the top of my head. I'm happy to adapt the list to a more current fandom, if that would help?

Oh aww, sorry to hear that about podfic as well. Although I think it's been definitely gaining ground! I guess people have to kind of pay more attention to a fanmix, or an acoustic fanwork, and can't just read a chapter in class or before bed or binge the whole thing at their own pace. If it takes five hours to listen to, it takes five hours. (Or, you know, an entire hour of attention if you want to actually listen to the lyrics or what have you.) So I can kinda see why fanfic is just so much easier to consume and kudos, but still! A bummer. 😅 (I've previously listened to podfics while taking walks and it was so nice!)

To be honest, I'm currently neck deep in Guardian feelings (seven eps to go!!!) and have already started compiling fanmix ideas/songs for that, so I'm good right now! Although, if you wanna leave three ingredients for that one (I think five is too challenging for a fanmix), I wouldn't say no! \o/

Yeah, I admit that music is not my thing so while I appreciate the concept of fanmixes, it's tough for my concentration. Actually podfics are the same - I have to have something else to do or my attention just wanders. Which is hilarious considering I've made both fanmixes and podfics. Lots of podfics. Lol.

Ahhhhhhh I love Guardian! :D :D :D :D Da Qing is my absolute fave, though I adore Shen Wei's sleeve garters, lol (and ship the main pairing of course). Let's see, three ingredients: fog, spicy food, argyle. How's that?

I also rarely seek out other people's fanmixes, although that's partly because there just aren't a lot. Sometimes I look at Spotify and people just toss twenty songs into a playlist, which is clearly not the same. :-D

I finished watching Guardian today, it was A Lot! :-D And oh hey, there was a tiny scene involving Chu-ge and Little Guo and spicy food, so maybe I'll fuck around and make a mix for them! We'll see! \o/
