Please tell me that Sam's "saving people" shtick will be the impetus to stop working with the British MOL. Because the excessive outright murder is starting to chafe.

Fests have not been my thing lately. I keep having super shitty luck with them. Maybe it's the universe's way of telling me to learn how to motivate myself for a change. I'll still do pinch hits and fandom_stocking but I think I'm done with big bangs and exchanges for a while.


My favorite piece of this year: perhaps home is not a place but an irrevocable condition. I had real trouble writing the entire back half of the year. My dear friend omens had a prompt on her fandom_stocking of hair pulling/hair washing, and Sam/Kevin is one of her pairings, so this came out. I wrote almost five thousand words in one day, and finished it up on day two with another thousand or two. And it came so easy, which writing hadn't been for months, and I really liked it, too, so… yeah. Definitely my best experience.

My best piece this year: Same.

Most fun piece: Same.

Most sexy piece: Tie between perhaps home is not a place but an irrevocable condition and Reassurance which is a similar-feeling piece but with a Sam/Eileen pairing and no hair pulling.

Piece with the single sexiest moment: Ditto the above. They're fairly atmospheric, so it's more fluid than some of the porn I've written, where there is definitely a crystal clear moment.

Most depressing piece: Lifeline, I guess. It's an episode cap for 13.02. Dean's grief was difficult, the first several episodes of the season, but honestly the parts that were the most difficult for me were the way he treated Jack and then Sam by association. I'm sorry, I just don't believe you get a free pass because you're hurting. Anyway. The caps are all a little sad, and this is the saddest of them.

Piece that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: perhaps home is not a place but an irrevocable condition, definitely. It gave me a new appreciation for Kevin, and I really liked the Sam that interacted with Kevin in that way without his usual overarching guilt.

Biggest Disappointment: Honestly, Angelface was just too rushed. I had to write it in a hurry for an exchange, and it really is meant to be a novelette, I think. There's so much more to that story. I'm currently re-writing it, in the way of that one post about editing that goes around – the one about taking your first draft and literally retyping it, word for word? Turns out, I really like the opening. But as things speed up, it just starts moving so damn fast. It needs a lot more in-between what's there.

Biggest Surprise: perhaps home is not a place but an irrevocable condition, because I hadn't written so easily in so long and it felt so good.

Most Unintentionally Telling piece: Reassurance, I suppose, since it involves het porn from a woman's POV. Any time I write a woman's enjoyment of sex, it's based on what I like, so. There you go.

Favorite opening line: From chapter 6 of the second Sastiel love week collection: Castiel has never had a particular care about time.

Favorite closing line: From chapter 1 of the first Sastiel love week collection: And Cas doesn't knock him out, Cas just sits next to him on the bed, an attentive vigil, watching Sam as he lets go, as he drifts into sleep, and when the nightmares come, Cas gently puts his fingers to Sam's forehead and tells them to fuck off.

Yeah, I wish I had a back-up to wander off into - there were many months where I was not writing much or at all. Hopefully this year will be better on that front.

But also: YAY ART! and I am jealous, which I should've said upfront but I'm sick so pretend my manners don't feel well. <3
