30 Days of Fandom, day 25 - right on time for a change!
Here's the full 30 days, for those who want to play along.
Day 25: Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain 'mood' to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
Sadly, no music for me. It's just too distracting. I used to use soundtracks, but even that is distracting for me any more. I write first thing in the morning, so I just sit up in bed and start typing. I used to write at my desk, so I would use soundtracks then, to keep ambient noise out. I'm totally boring this way.
More interesting is the fact that my degrees are in music, and I hardly ever listen to music. Sometimes in the car, sometimes if I have really tedious work to do, but that's about it. I find I get lost in my thoughts and music only serves to distract me. *shrugs* I just find it interesting that I spent 12-16 hours a day, every day for 12 years, learning about or performing music, and now it's barely a part of my life in any form. Weird how life works.
