How I feel about this character: I LOVE Ronon. He is one of my favorite characters in SGA, and not just because he's on Sheppard's team. I feel like the show shorted him a little lot, but that was weirdly okay with me, because it meant the fans could fill in the blanks ourselves without tripping over canon too much, and there are many, MANY Ronon characterizations I love out there. I love Ronon's dreads, but the wig in Season 5 was just horrendous. They had the perfect excuse to cut them off - why didn't they? Sure it's a big switch, but guess what? WE CAN GET USED TO NEW THINGS! Arg, the wig was SO BAD.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Everyone ever. I love early seasons Ronon/Teyla, I love Ronon/John, I even enjoy Ronon/McKay, though more in a snarky friendship way than in a romantic way. I like him with Keller a lot (I cannot tell you how much I wish that was the way the show had gone) and I like him with Amelia, too.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: I love him as part of the team. Team is my favorite. I enjoy his relationship with Woolsey in season 5. I like him with Zelenka, too, as well as Jeannie (his scenes with Jeannie are some of my favorite) and really, just about everyone he interacts with (and characters he doesn't! I love Atlantis because a closed society means everyone interacts with each other, even if they don't show most of that on camera most of the time). The only thing I don't really get from him is a Ronon/Atlantis vibe. Teyla, John, Rodney - they all have relationships with Atlantis. I don't feel like Ronon does. I'd love for someone to write that fic, though, when he figures out how he relates to the city. ETA: JEEZ! How could I forget my favorite rarepair? I love Ronon/Zelenka!!!!
My unpopular opinion about this character: I love him playing the brute. It's clear (I think, anyway) that he's NOT a brute, and that he is using it to size people up and/or get out of things he doesn't want to do. I appreciate how cunning that is, though the fact that people continually fall for it is kinda hilarious and also depressing.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: More backstory, more history, richer characterization. Ronon/Jennifer.
