Holiday season is upon us so I have come home for the holidays

Hello my dwircle! Long time no see, I know. There are occasions when I see people that I feel bad because I simply do not have time to keep up with everyone in my life as closely as I would like (I have lost friends over this; I'm actually okay with it), and I get a twinge of that every time I come back to DW for the holiday season. But here I am, and while I spend most of my year on tumblr (because I am actually a strange little gremlin) and discord (because that's where my wife and bestest buddies are), I am always nostalgic for the things I love about DW - the amazing discussions and connection that tumblr (and even discord) are not really built for.

That said, if I kept in touch with everyone everywhere I would have time for nothing else and still wouldn't be able to keep up with everyone. There is a limited amount of time in the day after all.

So anyway, I am here! And I bring news of fun fannish holiday activities that are pretty much no pressure! I love things where I can browse people's wishes and just... grant some, if I have time/interest/energy/money. That's truly my favorite thing. I also put up posts because why not, it's not like I don't also like to get presents (and espectially for fannish things, I love to post prompts and ideas that might spark something for people).

The first is fandomtrees, where you can put up a fannish (and non-fannish) non-monetary wishlist. This is fannish things you'd like to receive, plus things like recipes or stories or transformative works statements (hint hint!). Here's my tree for an example if you want to see. I trawl the tags for fandoms or media I want to give (I try to give everyone who requests a podfic one, if I can). It's a great time, and I love to fill requests for this, it's always such a delight. :D

The second is holiday_wishes which is similar, in that you can ask for fannish stuff if you want (the list is limited to ten wishes of any type). I don't have an example on that one as I haven't posted one yet, but I probably will at some point in the next week.

CQL (and more) vid recs!

So, I recently got back in touch with a dear dear friend from the Losers fandom only to find out THEY ARE IN MDZS NOW (specifically the live action, CQL/The Untamed). And then they asked me for vid recs and... I uh. May have gone overboard. So, here, have the fruits of my labor.

These notes are really for them, so don't expect anything too polished. I'm not cleaning up the links or anything either, I spent like, 10 hours on this already and I'm done. But maybe there'll be something in there other people might like. :)

I love this one, it's always a good idea to update your intro sticky once in a while (mine is here), and I like to see what changes year to year. This is the fourth year that nothing big has changed for me - I'm a little surprised how hardcore I still am for my main fandom (MDZS/The Untamed).

Like a migratory bird, I return to Dreamwidth for snowflake_challenge

It's time, my friends! Lucky sauerkraut goes into the crockpot tonight, I'm writing up end of year summaries, I'm playing Voiceteam Mystery Box, and snowflake_challenge is about to begin!

If you haven't played before, check it out! It is a lovely place that seeks to appreciate all the lovely things we do in fandom, and also gives us fans a bit of time to appreciate ourselves and what we do! Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Similarly, it's 2024 writing challenge signup time - I will tout the one I'm still doing (getyourwordsout, which has an amazing spreadsheet and lots of resources and as much or as little interaction as you like), and mention a few of the others that I have participated in that are still active (inkingitout is a slightly more chill community that I have modded for before, and zwei_hexen is the landing spot for a group of folks that do a "write every day" challenge, and have been for a few years now).

PSA: Fandomtrees signups are live!!!

fandomtrees signups are live until December 6! Basically, fandomtrees is a successor to fandom_stocking. You can sign up with 3-25 fandoms (including non-fandom asks like recipes or podcast recs or cat pics) and then you go around looking at the trees to see if you can put a gift under one of them.

So far I have one person in my current fandom, but I'll be checking out all the trees to see if there are gifts I can give. :D :D :D

It has been wonderful hosting this and I hope to do it again next year, perhaps in a slightly less crazy month. :)

For myself, I actually had a bit of inspiration and wrote a whole paragraph of potential trick-or-treating fic that might or might not be done in time for Halloween/Wei Wuxian's birthday. :)

No outlining tonight, had to practice for upcoming concerts but I'm still thinking through the possibilities. Might do a music-adjacent AU which is by far less dangerous for my nerves than an actual music AU. Still the possibility of a podfic AU though, because it amuses me.

Saturday the 14th, another favorite movie of mine. :D Words for me were all work words, lots of managing people who are both my responsibility and not my responsibility but my customers, of a sort. I hate being good at that kind of shit. I hate having to craft those conversations. Why can't people just be reasonable human beings and also just... you know, read the instructions and communications sent to them?

May actually get words later, we have a standing writing date at Panera on Saturdays, we'll just have to see. :)
