You know, normally I would've made John a trumpet player (and I have in a different musical story), but since Rodney's a virtuouso soloist, I needed something that would be reasonably equivalent, and that's either cello or piano. And really, it's piano. There are a few wind soloists out there, but not many, and really, even on piano or violin, it's tough. Well, plus the whole way this thing started was watching a cello and piano concert - I can't even remember what the works were, now, but I remember watching the two of them move together almost as one person and thinking... "John and Rodney!"
And I wish I knew you too! I've been writing this thing for going on six years now - I am dying to actually get it finished because I want to get it out in the world. I think once I get through my fannish commitments of the next few months (early February), I'm going to buckle down and try to finish it. I've been saying that for years, but if I don't finish it soon, it's never going to get done, and that would be a crying shame.
