This is my life

So, many many years ago, I wrote a Supernatural ficlet when I had only seen a single season. I was prompted with "Radio" and well, of course I wrote Sam singing along to pop music while Dean was sleeping. So, imagine my surprise when rabidly watching all the following seasons, that Sam and Dean do actually sing in the car, and also Sam listens to non-hair metal music. I gloated gleefully in each of those moments.

Right now I am making my posts for the night and then I'm going to settle in with one episode of SPN - 6.15, The French Mistake, which I hear is amazing. I saw about 2.3698 seconds of it in the previews of the last ep and decided to save it for tonight (as it was after midnight last night and I was already going on 36 hours without sleep). Also, a fic bunny with teeth the size of dracula tore into me, so I'm expecting to finish the ep, turn off the iPad, and write my third SPN fic ever.

Oh, right. I wrote my second SPN fic as a SPN/Losers crossover for elliemuraski's fandom_stocking. Femslash, and I'm really rather proud of it. I like the other two things I wrote too (and the Arrow/The Voice not!fic I ruminated on for celli), so here's links to those.

And now I get to gush about the AMAZING presents I got.

I got several lovely graphics for good wishes and IOUs (man people are clever!) as well as just general happiness and recs (multifandom vids and Leverage OT3) and a link to Steve/Tony/Pepper at the AO3 and then...

I got a gorgeous podfic cover for Fill All My Bones with Aches by somehowunbroken, a lovely piece that really captures the mood of that fic and is so so so perfect.

I have no idea how I got so lucky, but I got this amazing Clint&Natasha buddy art from astridv - look at that! It's amazing! Just another day at the office, hahaha, it's so perfect!

Then there's this amazing Cougar/Jensen artwork by the lovely tarlanx, with Cougar's gun and the coloring and the brushstrokes and gaaaaaaah! It's a shared gift with amaresu, and I'm pretty sure we're both pretty much floored.

IDRIS ELBA GIFS. From maharet83. I mean, seriously. SERIOUSLY. That man is more good looking than any two hundred people. And with the licking his lips. These are amazing, and perfect, and I absolutely did *not* drool on my keyboard, nosiree.

This lovely Hardison/Lucille fic, Frost, by jenna_thorn, is just such a lovely and sweet and perfect depiction of Hardison and his van, with a lovely Eliot thrown in for good measure.

merryghoul wrote a delightful little Leverage/Top Chef crossover ficlet that stars Tara and Sophie! Top Chef Quickfire. This is the most perfect quickfire in all of history, because they have a history and it all comes out in two teenie weenie amazing ficlets.

And if that wasn't amazing enough, anonymous_sibyl made me JESSICA SORROW FIC. I had to scrape my chin off the floor. And it's perfectly voiced - it comes right out of the Nightside, and the ending (Suzie) will make your heart clench. The Teddy Bears' Graveyard. Gorgeous.

Oh, but that's not all! moonlettuce wrote me an amazing Phil/Clint five things fic! It's heartwrenching and heartwarming and just amazing, and man, I am just over the moon, what can I say. A Laundry List of Trouble, awesome.

As if the Idris gifs weren't enough, the lovely maharet83 made me eight gooooooooooooooooorgeous Leverage icons that I cannot tell you how much I love. SO MUCH. I would've used one for this post, but...

clavally made me five Supernatural icons starring Castiel and Sam's hair. I can't even... I just. *cries*

And on that note, I've done all the work, read the dwircle, put my Fandom Snowflake Day 9 on hold, and am going to settle in with my one ep of SPN tonight. There may or may not (likely not) be fic tomorrow.

ETA: And that was the biggest build-up to nothing. It won't play on the iPad. I can get it to play on my computer, but there's no sound. Apparently someone doesn't want me to watch this.

I have many thoughts and feels and no time. I'm settling in at the new job, so I'm able to do some things (recording podfic is nice and easy and doesn't stress me out), but I haven't got the energy to do a lot of the things that I will hopefully get back into as the summer wears on.

Yeah, you heard me. I did something stupid with my contacts and I lacerated my eyeball, which caused me to be unable to play the concert on Sunday and miss two days of work so far this week. I can finally keep both eyes open for several minutes at a time, and wear glasses (that made me tear up something fierce until today). I may or may not go to work tomorrow, but I figure I'll be back up to scratch by Thursday and right as rain early next week.

And holy crap, guys, I got five stories! I am blushing over here, because the embarrassment of riches, seriously. THEY'RE ALL AMAZING, TOO, HOOOOOOOW DO PEOPLE DO THAT?!!

My exchange story: Family Means No One Gets Left Behind (Except When It Doesn't), which is the story of my heart - Roque, post-movie, watching the team's backs, saving Jensen's life (twice!) and the beginning of what is undoubtedly a rough reconciliation. Not to mention competent!soldier!Jensen, which is a rare occurrence and much loved.

My scramble treats (OMG SERIOUSLY, FOUR OF THEM, WHAAAAT):

A Boy and His Dragon, a short Losers/Temeraire fusion that is amazing (everything is better with dragons!) not just because of the fusion, but because it's modern-day Temeraire world, which is brilliant.

Take You for a Ride Down the Mind Way, Baby (5 Fantasies of Jake Jensen), a gorgeous piece about five fantasies of one Jake Jensen. The Jensen voice in this is awesome, the way the story is woven together is perfect (I admit my preference for five things stories that are woven into a cohesive story is a button that's mashed hard here), and the ending exactly what I want, in every fic, ever. Also, the individual fantasies? ARE HOT AS HELL AND STILL GIVE AMAZING TEAM.

Stand Reborn (Before Us All), a Losers/Hellraiser (movies and the new comics) crossover. This story, you guys, omg it is so gorgeous, the language so evocative (and dark! which I love, but if you have sensitivities or triggers, please note the warnings), so terrifyingly beautiful... I don't know what else to say. If you like dark, or horror, please read, this is an absolutely magnificent piece. I cannot even come up with more praise, I'd just be chucking superlatives at you. Just, if you can, go. Breathe it in.

Four Coffee Morning, a missing (Cougar/Jensen) scene from the movie. It is pitch-perfect movie Cougar/Jensen, exactly as I see it in my head - slightly angsty but mostly not (despite the angst? I have no idea how the author does that), Jensen being both perfectly Jensen and yet smart and determined in a way sometimes gets lost in fic, I think (my own definitely included here). This is one of those scenes that my slash goggles just assumed was behind the scenes of the movie, and someone wrote it out, exactly like in my daydreams, and handed it to me on a platter. Perfect, gorgeous, beautiful Cougar/Jensen.

I wrote Truth, Justice, and the Lantean Way, which is about 1/3 porn, and clocked in at 67,271 words, and I got SO MUCH GOOD STUFF OMG.

strivaria made an amazing courtroom sketch, gblvr made awesome comics-style art and the perfect fanmix, and omg_wtf_yeah made me a gorgeous cover.

Seriously, I am so ridiculously happy (and completely punch drunk). I have no idea how I got so lucky. ♥_♥

+ Another prompt of mine got filled on the SGA Kinkmeme! Ronon, Gen, Worldbuilding. It's fantastic and by someone I know, and I have guesses, but that never ends well, so I shall simply sit on my hands until reveal.

+ Saw Despicable Me last weekend and enjoyed it. I do really wonder at the incredible number of kids movies that have abandoned/orphaned/adopted kids as main themes. WTAF, do the people writing these things have serious abandonment issues or what?

+ Looking forward (OMG SO MUCH) to The Sorcerer's Apprentice tonight! Every once in a while, I actually like Nic Cage, and this looks like so much fun.

+ Okay, yeah. So, White Collar's premiere really did it for me, in a way I was hoping Leverage was going to do, and didn't manage until the Parker episode. AND CAN I JUST SAY MY STUPID DVR RANDOMLY DIDN'T RECORD LEVERAGE TWO WEEKS RUNNING AND NOW I HAVE MISSED THE MOST RECENT ONE?! SO ANGY!!! >:(

+ Psych and Haven are still on my DVR for watching this weekend - as rewards for writing and betaing!

Drabbles are hard, dude.

No seriously, they're tough enough when you have the slightest snippet of an idea (when I'm in practice, I can automatically write to within five words of a hundred… when I'm out of practice, I usually write to about a hundred and fifty), but when there's a whole plot (I'm looking at you, gblvr) that's a hell of a lot of conciseness to fit it in a hundred words. That one's not my best (sorry, gblvr), but I did it! I did at least one for everybody! And here they are:

jumpuphigh requested sitting on the pier after a rough mission and kissing that turns to biting of the neck and shoulders and early morning sleepy kissing.
gblvr requested one or the other of them getting the wrong idea about something they see or overhear the other doing with either Radek or Evan, and having that lead to a jealous! and/or relieved!kiss.

I received two stories for Yuletide, even though I defaulted. :(

I plan on writing the story I was assigned sometime, I just got overwhelmed with my Christmas overload, and couldn't do it. I still have another deadline fic to write, but that one is neatly writing itself in my head, and so should be a cinch to finish and get in on time.

In the meantime - next year, I do not get to sign up for Yuletide (assuming I finish my original story and a NYR in the meantime) unless I have finished my sga_santa. Period.

So - my Yuletide stories (how did I get two? I'm so blessed, but now feeling doubly guilty) are:

Feint, Counterfeint in the White Collar fandom. OT3 (Peter/Elizabeth/Neal), a beautiful piece from Peter's POV showing his insecurities and his place in the established relationship. A lovely little gem.

The Witches' Brew, an adorable slice of life of an AU where Roxie owns a coffee shop, Joanna owns the bookshop next door (and is an aspiring writer) and Kat lives upstairs, with her kids on weekends and holidays. Mia is off to college but coming home for Christmas (as are Kat's kids) and even Penny stops by. Wonderful.

Last but not least, if you can guess what story I wrote for cm_exchange or sga_santa, I will give you something. I reserve the right to choose whether it will be a short fic, an icon, or baked goods. Or potentially something knit by my mother. Comments screened for this purpose, so guess away.

In conclusion, I am surrounded by my family (and cats, Angel is petting me), playing video games and lazing around and thoroughly enjoying my vacation. I am not actually doing well on catching up on fic reading, but I intend to do that in the new year; I will post rec sets from sga_santa and Yuletide, but surely not before the reveal. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season, if you celebrate something, and if not, I hope you are having a lovely December.

I'm going to make Top Chef Masters a fandom for Yuletide. No really.

Besides the really awesome Wylie Dufresne/Graham Elliot idea I had a while ago, and the awesome beginnings of truly epic things to come from beadslut (Wylie Dufresne/Eliot Spencer!!!), I just realized Hubert's last name is Keller. So I want fic about Jennifer being Hubert's niece or whatever and Rodney getting to meet him and eat his food. The OTPer in me wants this to somehow end up John/Rodney, but I think I could deal with McKeller if it had Hubert cooking for Rodney in it.

Now if I can just find a way to work in Anita Lo. I love her.

I'm not going to put my name up there (as I just don't do these, ever, and you are always welcome anywhere and anytime to ask me to write something for you - I will try to do it, but my track record is about 25%, so keep that in mind), but you all should put your names up there because I want to tell you things you should write because you'd be brilliant at it.
