It's the one year anniversary of Dreamwidth today, and
followfriday actually had some questions to ask, so let me take a look at this...
What have been your favourite communities on Dreamwidth since being here? I'm enjoying
bakeitup,
sun_salutation,
teaching and
asexual_fandom.
What communities have you been most active in? Not to sound like a broken record, but:
queerlygen,
crossovers,
15_minute_ficlets, and
prospectus. Modding totally counts as active!
Which do you hope will finally get active? See previous follow friday post. What are the most interesting personal journals in your circle? Broken record again, but:
marina,
synecdochic,
damned_colonial,
cupidsbow. I've talked about them all before (check out my
follow friday tag, but ask if you want to know something specific).
Who has made your reading place a happy/funny/thinky place? Well, all of you - you're wonderful! But to give you some other people to look at:
happy:
cimorene, whose plebefic headers are awesome (and also posts shoes! \o/)
funny:
xkcd_feed thinky:
dromomaniac, who doesn't post much but is fascinating,
coffeeandink, and
deepad, both of whom are big names on campus, and you should check out.
Big news: I am going to see
Gil Shaham tonight. This is the violinist I love the best. I have picked him as my Rodney for Impromptu (John is Van Cliburn... what?). I expect to write Impromptu pretty heavily soon, if I can get one piece of info. Ready, my trusty researchers? The Grammys were early this year; can any of you find when the classical Grammys were handed out? I found out last year, but I can't find the info this year. :( Help a girl out, will you? And I will post a snippet of Impromptu tomorrow, maybe.
I'm taking a new shuttle to/from work these days. It's a small shuttle, and the driver knows all his regular charges and greets us. I've taken it nine times so far, and he has not driven the same way twice. This morning, there was a pregnant woman on the shuttle and he asked her if the back way was too bumpy, and when she said yes, he said he'd stick to the main roads. ♥
Also - have been more and more annoyed with work and two things happened:
cesare suggested a way of looking into putting my organizational skills to good use, and one of the directors asked me to host a panel with her at the
SRA International conference in New Orleans next year! \o/ Since there are only 4 of the contiguous US states I haven't been in, and Louisiana is one of them, I'm pretty damn excited about this (not to mention NOLA!!!)... and the fact that she thinks I should look into becoming a regional officer, which means that I can probably get an awesome recommendation out of her, should I start looking into this other career path (which, it seems, would include lots of travel too, which is mega-FTW as I love travel).
( Poll about... sneezing? )
